WOW! I got this coffeemaker about 2 weeks ago and it is really cool. The touchscreen buttons are easy to use and the screen actually goes blank when I am done. I can't even see the buttons! The coffeemaker itself still works great like you would expect a Mr. Coffee to do and my coffee stays warm for about 2 hours. I have recommended this coffeemaker to my friends and family.

My title says it all; easy to program, looks good, best coffee taste of any home coffeemaker I have ever used. But then, Mr Coffee always makes great tasting coffee. I have two of these and both are excellent products.

I’ll start by confessing that this account was set up with the sole purpose of righting this review. Although I’ve never felt compelled to write a review about a kitchen appliance, this wonderful little addition to our family beckons spreading the word of its ability.
Appearance -- In a brand new home that is filled with black appliances, this little guy holds his own. While turned off, the sleek flat glossy black front with silver accents sits elegantly in a corner. With only the power button illuminated, it sits unencumbered by button ridges or useless plastic folds for dirt or coffee grinds to collect. This unit is half machine and half sculpture.
Function – Although I hardly use half the programmable option available to me, I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. I was surprise to see that the entire display panel is a touch screen and not just a cheap imitation with really flat buttons. With the softest of touch to the power button, the panel lights up like a digital Christmas tree. With a touch of the “Brew Now” button, it begins. No loud hissing or crackling, but rather a soft bubbling that is followed by the warm smell of caffeine. The machine politely beep once to let you know that its finish (and for those of us that are impatient, it has a stopping mechanism on the spout if you choose to jump in and grab a quick cup before it’s done – no need for holding the mug under the spout while it brews). It then begins a timer to display how long the coffee has been sitting in the pot. After 2 hours and another beep, the machine turns off and returns to its sleek black starting point.
I can’t make any guarantees on the dog sticking around, but I can guarantee that this addition will be part of our family for as long as it lasts.

Deciding to purchase this coffee maker presented a problem for me. Just over a year ago, I purchased a Black & Decker under the cabinet coffee maker, which gave me nothing but trouble. It leaked all over the place, causing the grounds to spill on the counter. It certainly was a great disappontment. But when I received and used the eLume CM, I couldn't be more pleased. The maker is easy to use, makes great coffee and looks fantastic in my kitchen. I would highly recommend this product!!!!!!

I agree with most of the user reviews that this is a slick looking device. The e-lume is very cool and works great. And for the last 6 months the unit worked just fine. Then yesterday after it brewed a pot the coffee in the decanter got colder and I realized the warming plate was not working. I tried to run a pot of water through the brew process and it was toast. It never pumped water into the pot and the plate never heated up. I took the unit to an authorized service center and was told the the mfr. will ship a replacement unit directly to me in 6 to 8 weeks. So now I get to purchase another coffee maker. Either that or drink instant coffee for 2 months. I figure Starbucks every day for that long will run me about $140 so forget that! The reason I gave it a 3 instead of a lower score is because while it was working it was a very nice unit with great features and that's worth something, right? If your BMW broke down after driving it for a year you wouldn't say it was a lousy car.

I loved this coffee maker for about 2 months then suddenly it just stopped working. I have tried to contact mr coffee and no reply the eLume is wonderful but the touch pad stopped working. Everytime i spend a decent amount of money on a coffee maker i regret it i should have just bought a cheap one.The book has some troubleshooting but not for that.

I have had my Mr. Coffee 12-cup eLume for 10 months.
It takes about 12.5 minutes to brew 12 cups of hot coffee, and that's right after a cleaning. Of course, you don't have to wait until it's finished to drink because of the pause and serve function. The "brew finish" indicator beep goes off right after it starts brewing which defeats that purpose. It started doing this about eight months of daily use. The least I've found the water filters are $... for a 2 pk. I change mine about every 4-6 weeks, but I don't notice that the coffee tastes better because I use them.
I use the clean function, but it takes forever to cycle through three times to rinse; so I just use "brew" to rinse.
The automatic brew start feature has worked every morning since I got it.
Other than that, it works great.

Makes PLASTIC-TASTING coffee

DO NOT BUY - PLASTIC-TASTING COFFEE
The whole product emitted plastic fumes that filled my kitchen for weeks. I tried making dozens of pots of coffee with it, (I even rinsed it with white vinegar profusely) but the coffee smelled and tasted like plastic chemicals with every attempt.
Since this was a gift, I was willing to give it more of a chance than if I had purchased it myself. I read that plastic products often require an off-gassing period where chemical fumes are present. The advice given was to air-out the product and allow off-gassing to occur... for a few weeks up to a few months. In the meantime, I got out my french press and made both a mess and some really great coffee.
Periodically, I would test the coffee maker, but the awful smell and taste still remained. After a few months I decided it was time to give up. I packed up the coffee maker and dug out my Target receipt. Of course, all of that good-faith waiting/off-gassing is for nothing because it is now exactly 98 days since this item was purchased... 8 days beyond Target's return limit.
This coffee maker looks great, the touch feature is very cool, it let's you choose stronger or weaker brewing types... but alas, it makes plastic coffee.
For what it's worth, the french press I was using is an old version of the glass/steel Bodum press pot sold here, and it makes great coffee (no plastic!) The grinds can be a little annoying to clean out of the pot, but I think I'm going to stick with it anyway. Bonus: it doesn't use electricity.
