This is all you really need. I go on vacations and business trips at a moments notice an dI carry with me my super-lightweight D40, 18-55mm and SB-400 flash, and never miss anything. In fact, I love not having to carry more gear! The D40 battery lasts so long, about 500 - 1,000 shots, that you might be able to leave the charger at home if you're feeling lucky. I've made about 5,000+ shots on my D40 and it looks and runs exactly as it did when brand new.

The sharpness and performance is extraordinary. A lens this inexpensive never used to have the right to be this embarrassingly good. VR works great; I can shoot get sharp shots without a tripod.

I highly recommend this lens not only for the professionals but beginners too. I really enjoy this lens. My trip to Californina and Nevada was so beautiful. I took clean, vibrant, and sharp pictures. I hope this helps. I'm no Professional I just love taking pictures :-)
