Description

Featuring a remarkable wireless controller experience, the Nintendo Wii console invites players into game worlds and activities like never before. Whether they’re young or old, expert gamers or beginners, Wii players can express themselves with intuitive motion control using the Wii Remote: a flick of the wrist to swing a baseball bat or tennis racket, a backswing and follow-through to send a golf ball flying over a pristine fairway. Wii Sports, packaged with the Wii console, introduces players to those and many other experiences. Wii also taps into Nintendo’s legacy of great games with the Virtual Console. Connecting via wireless broadband to Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, Wii owners will be able to spend Virtual Console points to download selected classic games from NES, Super NES and N64 video game consoles; through WiiConnect24, owners will be able to access even more content. 4-player compatibility as well as the ability to compete with other Wii players over broadband Internet means that Wii offers a true social experience. The sleek Wii console, no larger than a stack of several DVD cases, includes Wii Sports, a sensor bar, an AV cable, a Wii stand, a Wii Remote and a Nunchuk controller for even more exciting game-control possibilities. Starter kit includes a component video cable, a wireless sensor bar, battery recharging cables, a sports kit, 2 rechargeable battery packs and a racing wheel.

Wii had to spend more! January 11, 2009 Reviewer:  Mick "Mickey" (NJ, USA)  See all my reviews >

The wii has been really enjoyed by my family; that said I was disappointed with the "starter bundle" that came with the wii. You are not told that the bundle is actually an after-market (Called Psyclone Essentials) type thing that is not endorsed by Nintendo. My husband called Nintendo and was told DO NOT use those Lithium Batteries that come in the after market, go get rechargeable Nickle Metal Hydride. (see page 19 in the Wii system setup manual). All the items in it can be used EXCEPT these extra rechargeable batteries. The items in the kit are not as sturdy as the real nintendo equivalents, but are OK. The controller wrist straps are flimsy, so we got real wii ones. If you just want an extra wheel, bat. golf club, the kit is OK, but don't get it for the batteries, or you'll just be spending more money. We do like the games so far and it has been fun for our whole family.

Disappointed December 11, 2008 Reviewer:  You will get the truth "Will i am" (Virginia)  See all my reviews >

We purchased the Wii system last year for our kids for Christmas. They are 10 and 14 years of age. We gave it to them in October as an early present. It was a great little game for about six months. After that they both lost interest in the game. I think it had a lot to do with the games for the system itself. There are a LOT of junky games that are put out for this system that are trying to make a quick buck. There are the others like guitar hero, rock band, and a lot of the "Nintendo characters" games that might be worth it. My kids have spent the last seven months trying to play "Dad's" PS3. I would say good for some, bad for others. I think the system is geared for younger or older, not for tweeners.

I ordered this system on the internet on Sunday, 12/7/08 for my son and daughter in law for Christmas. They received it on Thursday, 12/11. Great reponse time and I'm glad I ordered it when I did because they are now out of stock again. Very hard to find it in stores.

Definite Must-Have January 17, 2009 Reviewer:  ANTMLOVER "Chrissy B" (New York, USA)  See all my reviews >

I have finally gotten the Wii yesterday after hunting and searching many months after Christmas to find the bundle in stores but they were out of stock. The Wii is great and an amazing generation Nintendo had brought out. This beats out the N64, Game Cube and DS. It's fun too and great for the gaming environment. The remote, nanchuk, and Wii sports is great for beginners. I can say so much more about this, but the Wii is just fantastic...it's definitely a must-have! I recommend it to everybody

Wii for a lady who is a senior November 14, 2009 Reviewer:  old fashion "Peg" See all my reviews >

On the encouragement of my sons, I bought the Wii Console with the starter kit bundle, to upgrade my fitness and balance level. I grew up playing baseball and later years' tennis was my game. I am amazed how much you get into the action and how fast you can work up a sweat. Since I use a computer it was easy for me to set up and to enjoy. When my back really hurts, I play from a chair, not as much fun but it can be done. I think the senior group would benefit greatly with this Wii, especially on snowy or rainy days. Most of all ordering it on-line was the easiest for me.
