Caught on Fire

Hi, this fan caught on fire - right before I fell asleep. This fan should be taken off the market - I had it for 2-3 months and just before I fell asleep one night it caught on fire - all on it's own, the motor burned up and I was able to unplug it just in time. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

I bought this fan three years ago when I was working at a resident camp(and sleeping in platform tents) for the summer. To this day it still works great and I have never had any problems with it.

I took one of these to Burning Man last year and it still works just fine even after 9 days of being inundated with dust. It does not make any strange noises and is plenty powerful for a portable/battery-powered fan.

There is an inline Resistor inside the fan that burned up. I dont mean it just went out, it literally burned to a crisp, so bad that I can't ID the color rings on it to know what the Ohm rating is. This happend after only 3 days of use. The plug also becomes extremely hot after 30-45 minutes use

This fan got us through 2 weeks of Houston heat after we lost power from Hurricane Ike. I'm getting one for all my Houston friends this Christmas.

I just received my fans. I will write a more thorough review once I have had a chance to use them for their intended purpose. My daughter is playing travel softball this summer and we need something to "attempt" to cool us off in the SC heat. I plugged them up here at work and the output is stronger than I would have imagined. I was impressed. We'll check them out very soon and I'll post my comments another time.

We don't always have 110 electricity available when camping. When we leave the dogs in the RV this provides hours of fresh breeze for them.

I have never bought something this useless. I got seven of them as i wanted one for each room. Within the first 24 hours of running them EVERY one started making this hideous rattling sound which was unbearable to be around!!!!

Cheaply made fan

Here's a few problems this fan has:
Hinges are weak and prone to breaking.
The resistor gets super hot, even though it's encased in a fire retardant cloth sleeve, I wouldn't run this fan when not home.
On A/C power, the fan's RPM at times goes haywire at both low and high speed, every hour or so when on (high and low), the fan mysteriously starts spinning faster or slower and it's very noticeable, almost like an overdrive, but it's caused by poor circuitry.
If you need a fan that's DC powered, this fan is just ok, and reasonably quiet on low, but there are better fans out there.

What to do when your power goes off

Living in Glendale, Arizona (part of the Phoenix Metro area),has it's challenges during the summer months. You may have heard about the extreme heat we have had here this summer.Temperatures of 112-115. People have lost their power. How do we stay cool if our power goes off? I found this wonderful cooling fan that is "battery operated" and requires only 8 D batteries ! If my power goes off, now I can rest assured that I have "back up cooling". Thank you, Target! Also, the "price is right" to fit anyone's budget.
A Satisfied Customer in Arizona!
