This entertainment center DOES NOT fit a 47" tv, your lucky to fit a 40" tv. When putting it together the wood was cracking, splitting, and breaking. Trying to return it is a hassle. The customer service is the worst I've ever delt with in my life. [...]. I went to a funiture store around my house and found a much better quality entertainment center for [less], plus I didn't have to put it together. Save your money and time and skip this one.

This unit isn't for a 47 inch tv. The whole unit is 47 inches. The tv opening dimensions are for a 37 inch tv. A 37 inch tv will fit perfect. The reviewer who said this unit doesn't fit a 47 inch tv is right. But he would have known that if he read all the product details. This is a very nice, solid unit. It's highly recommended.
