Plan to spend time assembling March 3, 2008 Reviewer:  Online Shopper (Lafayette, LA, USA)  See all my reviews >

This bed arrived carefully packaged with a lot of extra cushioning, which was good because the outside package was crushed, as was the inside styrofoam. The directions were printed in very small font, with limited explanation. More detailed pictures and better labeling of the pieces would have made assembly easier. I spent a lot of time trying to decipher the pictures to ensure that I had the pieces facing the correct direction. Not all pieces were clearly labeled. The ink mark was smeared on some. 24/7 customer support is available, but phone directions wouldn't have helped much in orienting the pieces. The bed comes with 10 tiny flimsy stick-on felt squares to protect the floor. Almost every rough-edged piece of this bed touches the floor. If you have wood floors, I would recommend putting additional felt protectors or placing the bed on a rug. The assembly requires a "robertson" screwdriver or drill bit. I had to run out and purchase a new bit as I did not have this in my toolbox. The bottoms of the drawers are very flimsy, only slightly sturdier than cardstock. Drawer slides are good quality with ball bearings but tricky to assemble. They come in one piece, but the slide inserts must be detached in order to screw them to the drawer sides. I'm pretty good at putting furniture together and actually enjoy doing it. I have a whole house full of furniture that I assembled myself, and I would have to say this was one of the more difficult assemblies. It took me about five hours, not counting the trip to the hardware store to purchase the additional tools needed. It seems to be a good and sturdy bed, and it looks good once finished.

Pile of Junk October 5, 2007 Reviewer:  James Chesters Real Name (Brooklyn, NY)  See all my reviews >

I should have known better. Tried to save some money for a cheap, clean looking second bed. What I got is a heap of expensive trash. Came damaged - one of the sides had a large chip in the corner. (-1 star). Started to assemble the two dozen wood pieces and hundreds of bits of hardware and by step five found out I was missing 4 large metal slides for the drawers as well as several dowels and screws. Now I have to deal with the customer support center for the bed manufacturer and I am still waiting on replacement parts. So the bed is still in pieces on the floor. Making it nothing but a pile of trash. (-3 more stars)

The lesson is: don't try to save money by shopping at Target. Go to a antique store or furniture showroom and spend the extra money and not deal with the headache and shoddy craftsmanship. After Target tacks on delivery you're really not saving that much. Lesson learned I guess.

not doing this again..... December 23, 2007 Reviewer:  E. Sapata Real Name (Dark Side of the Moon)  See all my reviews >

The only reason I bought this bed is because my 12 year old wanted this look, the queen platform with the twin size mattress on top; exposing portion of platform on top. Well the top of the platform is in 4 pieces and you can see all the seams. Part of the bed, which came in hundreds of pieces, came in all chipped (luckily you can't see it once the bed is all put together).

The drawers are flimsy, don't think you can use this storage for anything but some light clothing or blankets...they are huge but the bottoms are not much sturdier than a piece of thick cardboard!

The description say "chocolate", but it is more like black and the finish is not consistent through out all the pieces.

My daughter is happy, but I don't see this bed holding up for more than a year or two.

Not to mention that it took a whole afternoon to put it together and lots of patience...and a few tylenol along the way!

Ok so you get what you pay for...[...]. I could have probably bought one for $500 or so, but I honestly was not able to find anything like that locally.

I like October 8, 2007 Reviewer:  chery See all my reviews >

this bed looks great with the storage and all. But my sister has a platform bed that comes out on the sides and always hits her shins on the frame. owch.

GREAT for the price!!! March 24, 2009 Reviewer:  I'm smart, are you? "Cathy B." (Topeka, KS, USA)  See all my reviews >

I was really skeptical about buying this furniture because of all the bad reviews, but it was the only thing my husband and I could afford. We purchased the headboard, the platform bed, a nightstand, the chest, and the dresser. All of them came packaged tightly--to the point I had issues opening the packages to get everything out. Nothing was scratched or broken. It took me about 5 days to put everything together. I did this BY MYSELF and had only one issue with the directions--they had switched the names of two of the pieces. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to put this stuff together, you just need a little common sense. (Which it appears that we're running out of in this day and age.) Because of the reviews we put Gorilla Glue along the edges of the drawers to seal them in more tight. My husband keeps one of the drawers as his "junk drawer" and it is filled to the brim with books, sunglasses, papers, and odds and ends of things. It's HEAVY and it's on the top. No problems whatsoever with it breaking. We LOVE our furniture and have had NO ISSUES with anything--except dusting dark furniture is a butt. lol :)

Great for the price! July 25, 2009 Reviewer:  Handy Mom See all my reviews >

Bought for my daughter's room, turned out great. I was worried after some of the reviews, but my daughter and I put it together within a couple of hours. It turned out great. Instructions were easy to read and it is really solid. It did come with a touch up pen for touch ups which was helpful. Would recommend it to anyone.

Platform Bed- Not that nice for the price September 30, 2009 Reviewer:  Stacey E. Smith Real Name See all my reviews >

The Platform Bed (chocloate) ends up being ....dollars plus after shipping, and tax. It is not worth the money. It says that it comes assembled; it does NOT. There were pieces scuffed, and it is all fiber-board. For .....dollars, I could have gotten better. The directions are horrible and it take two hours to put together. I was ashamed when a friend asked me how much I spent on it. Because returning is so complex, I kept it. I am sure it won't last long!
