I picked this up to take camping as an activity to entertain the kids, ages 4 and 6, while making dinner. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to use, needing very few ingredients with a quick (approx. 20) and great result. Now my kids ask to make ice cream all the time and since it is so easy to clean and they can use it relatively unsupervised, I'm all for it. For these reasons the Play and Freeze is my new favorite gift for kids and adults alike.

My dad, sister and I were at REI a couple of months ago to get my dad a new bike. We found this product and had to have it. We got it and it makes plenty of delicious ice cream for my family of 6. It is easy to make just make sure you have enough ice and shake well!!!

gave it to my sister for christmas! not sure about how it works but there are more expensive versions of this at other stores! i wish target had more of their products in the stores and not always online!

I bought this for my husband for christmas and instantly loved it. The instructions call for you to FILL the compartment with ice. We never have enough ice (unless we got buy a bag) to fill it and it works with what we use, 1 tray.

My mother-in-law got this for our kids (5 and 3) for Easter. I admit I was looking forward to it too. My 5 year old was asking when it would be done but then what 5 can be content to wait the 20 minutes for ice cream. We made some at my Mom's house and she did not have much ice so I packed it with snow (yes snow still in Ohio in March). It was more milkshake consistency but the vanilla I used was the good contained alcohol kind so I think that might have kept it from freezing more. Can't wait to make it again.

I did not find the weight to be too much. They were able to toss it and roll it just fine. We used a rubber spatula to scrap the sides and had no problem.

Used once and done. Froze hard on the edges so you couldn't get it off the sides, while middle still liquid, which made a complete mess trying to mix it up. Was fun for about 5 minutes, then got tedious "playing" with it. Too heavy for a child to shake, had to roll it around the floor, which got boring quickly.
