This vacuum does not have a roller and does a great job of picking up dog hair and loose dirt and for the price it can not be beat. Do yourself a favor though and buy a standard 15 ft. extention cord and keep it attached to the vacuum for maximum reach. The only way this thing would be better is if it was cordless. Jim
