My 5 year old wanted only this from Santa. After one use it did not shut off. After several uses it did not shut off. The response from the manufacturer was "take the batteries out to shut it off!" After taking the batteries out by the 5th use the screws were stripped and wouldn't tighten any more. My daughter is heart broken. I have made numerous attempts to contact the company but they have my money and don't care. DO NOT SPEND ONE CENT ON THIS TOY! It doesn't "swim" it barely floats. And pressing the on/off button doesn't work - EVER - check the other responses on the various websites. Shame on MGA Entertainment.

My daugher is 5 and loves to take this cute little dog in the tub with her. He works fine, and yes, he does not turn off as soon as you take him from the water, BUT if you read the directions it says to push the little heart charm on his collar for 2 seconds and he will turn off. Also, he will roll over in the tub, AGAIN in the directions it says to hold the puppy's body under water until the air bubbles disapear. After you do this he swims perfectly. Seems some kids are missing out because they weren't shown how to use their puppy properly.

We have two puppies, my daughters got them for thier birthdays. One works just fine, the girls have had a ball with him!!! The other one worked, for about 3-4 times than he would not stop swimming when we got him out of the tub. Did everything the instructions said and he still would not stop. Had to take the batteries out to get him to stop. Took it back to Target with no problems and will try again with a new one.

My daughter got this for Christmas because she wanted it SOOOO bad, and it is the biggest waste of money! He tips over immediately in the tub because the head is so big, and just like an earlier reviewer, after 4 or 5 five minute uses he doesn't shut off! I also did everything they said on the instructions to no avail. We need to use a screwdriver the take the batteries out every time. Now I just keep it put away and she hasn't asked for him. Too much hassle - and too much money for something that does nothing!

My son got this for his 1st birthday, AWESOME! He drops it all the time and has never broken, works great in the tub and walks around out of water. Not sure why so many people are having trouble, but so far we love it.

We got this for my daughter for Christmas she's 4 1/2. She plays with it all the time. It walks around on the floor and it also swims with her in the tub. I don't understand all the bad reviews. I saw a lot of reviews about not being able to turn it off if you touch the heart on the chest it turns off. We love it and it's so cute with the goggles on. His towel could be a little bigger. I agree with the other review. Read the Directions. Toys get bad reviews because some just don't have the time to read. I would recommend this is a matter of fact I am going out this week to get my niece one.

My 4 year old daughter recieved this toy from Santa. All day long she wanted to take a bath with it. I finally gave in to her and as we were walking to the bathroom she dropped it and its head broke off. I contacted the company right away and they said that this type of damage is not covered under their warranty. I had to listen to her cry all night long. This toy should not have a 3+ age on it if it cannot handle being dropped. I am very disappointed with the toy and the company who makes it.

I was surprised to see so many bad reviews on here!!
My daughter got this for Christmas and she loves it. It's great because it can walk on the floors or swim. So she can use it anywhere.
When we first tried it in the bathtub I was a bit disappointed because it going down head-first. I read that if you hold it under water until the air bubbles stop, it should balance it out. That didn't work. But once I let all the water drain back out and just plopped it in the water, it swam just fine! (I was letting her play with it in the tub as it was filling up, but when putting the puppy into an already full tub it works fine.) I have no idea why this would make a difference, but it does.
Ours stops walking within seconds of taking it out of the water, as soon as the water isn't touching the sensors. I'm surprised at the reviews I read about it not stopping! I guess an on/off switch may have been a good addition to this item?
All in all we are very happy with this. It isn't educational, but it's a great toy for an animal & bath loving little girl!!

My daughter received her puppy as a Christmas gift and was thrilled. Her first encounter in the tub and the puppy swam great UNTIL WE TRIED TO TURN HIM OFF. I read the directions carefully, did everything the directions said to do and still the puppy does not turn off. My daughter loves to swim with the puppy but we have to keep a screwdriver handy to take out the batteries in order to get the puppy to turn off. Cute idea but the PRODUCT DOES NOT TURN OFF!!!!
I WOULD NOT reccomend this product. Save your money!!
