Nice to look at, but doesn't hold up well

I really liked the way these looked, so I bought one. For the first few months it was great, I Loved it. Now it has started to rust around all the holes, and the enamel has started to peel off of the colander. If you are buying one to drain pasta all the time I wouldn't suggest it, If you want one to use as a fruit basket, or on display to match your kitchen you should be fine.

It seemed to be doing well for the first 5 or so uses and washes in the dishwasher, but after that the enamel began to flake off around the base and the straining holes. The condition continued to worsen with each subsequent use and wash until the metal beneath began to rust. My next colander will be stainless rather than enameled steel. Perhaps it would have held up better with handwashing only, but seeing as how it says "dishwasher safe," I assumed it would be as such.

Don't wast your money on this you are better off to go to the dollar store and buy one. First off the holes are to big. I used this to drain ground beef I ended up loosing about 10 to 15 % of meat. Second it rusts bad and the enamel peels off.

I purchased 6 of these and they are all perfect after more than one year of constant use. The colors are really nice and cheerful - add great color for my kitchen. I keep fruit, nuts and vegetables in them as well as using them to rinse and drain fresh foods.
