Like its companion disc LaVern/LaVern Baker, this Collectables CD contains two early LaVern Baker albums, See See Rider and Blues Ballads, on one disc. There are a couple of minor flaws with each album, but for the most part, they each are dominated by great songs and performances, illustrating what a terrific, powerful vocalist Baker was. The remastering and packaging aren't quite up to the standard of the music itself, but serious Baker fans will want this disc regardless, since it contains so many fine recordings that aren't available anywhere else.
