High quality at a great value

Riedel's name is synonymous with quality stemware. These are big red wine glasses, perfect for a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignion or Merlot. I used cheaper glasses until I got these as a wedding gift, but the Riedel glasses are beautiful and really allow the wine to open up and breathe. I'm very happy with them and planning on completing my whole Riedel set, pinot noir, white, beer, brandy, and martini. Just a note though, the base of these glasses is too wide for a standard stemware rack.

It's the weight, not the capacity

These glasses are great. Simple, classic, and Riedel. I didn't buy them for a while because I like large red glasses and the description said these are 12.63 oz (way too small for a red wine). When I saw them in person I realized it was a mistake and I bought a set. They actually hold 18 5/8 fl oz. I now believe the 12.62 oz is the weight of the glass and not the capacity. So if you were reluctant to buy due to the small size, fear not. They are really nice.

As a wine industry professional, I try lots of different types of wine glasses and Riedel glasses typically set the bar for quality. However, these glasses are constructed with glued-on stems. The stem is joined to the bowl of the glass with glue which easily becomes unglued. This happened to 3 out of the 4 glasses in my set.

I have coveted Riedel stemware forever. But they are so expensive and fragile, so not very practical for me. But when Target came out with the Vivant Collection, I decided to splurge and treat myself! This collection has NO LEAD, which to some may be a downfall, but not to me. You'd never know it by looking at them, and they are more substantial than the other collections I've loved in the past from Riedel. Nice big bowl, enough room at the top to put your nose in and smell the bouquet. I love that "Riedel" is etched into the base. I can't decide whether to get the White Wine Stems, or the Water Glasses next! I hope to have a complete set of these soon. Excellent stemware from an excellent stemware designer. A great value for your money.

These goblets are great - They are delicate looking, but when you pick them up they are heavier than you expect. Good quality. I love the shape and size of them as well.

These are great, and we haven't found them to be fragile--I actually dropped my petite blueberry casserole on top of one and neither broke! That said, if one broke, it's a $10 loss and not a $20+ per glass that one would normally spend on Reidel crystal.
We do, however, hand wash the goblets and allow them to air-dry.

I've wanted Riedel red wine glasses for years; specifically I wanted their Vinum collection. My wife got me these Vivant for Christmas and they are fantastic. IMO they are most similar to Vinum Bordeaux [...] I love using them; the shape of the glass is pleasing to hold, great for swirling and watching ‘legs’ dripping down the inside of the glass. I’m really happy with this product.
Yes, they are thin so you have to be careful, but the thin glass is part of the appeal. I’ve run mine through the dishwasher and they survived but another plus is that if you do break a glass you can afford to buy more of this Vivant collection (the other Riedel collections are MUCH more money).

Not Riedel Vinum--But Great Value

We have used Riedel Vinum glasses for years (bordeaux). We've bought probably 10 boxes of 6 over the years. They are lovely, luxurious, and a joy to drink from. Why have we bought so many? Because they break very, very easily--seriously--if you look at one the wrong way it cracks.
When we bought a second home and were stocking it, we got these glasses at Target and the durability, compared to the Vinums, is much better. We've never had to replace even one.
You can definitely tell the difference between the two--the Vinums are larger and have a thinner lip. They feel finer in your hand and they are definitely more pleasurable to drink out of. However, the Vivant is still a nice glass and you can't beat it for durability.

These are so thin! Almost afraid to handle them, they're so thin, haha. Our first set of wine glasses and loving them so far!

I know that red wine glasses are SUPPOSED to be larger than white ones, but these are a little over the top. I really recommend buying all white wine glasses and serving red wine in them too...but then again, I'm not an expert, nor am I a wine connaisseur.
Otherwise, I really like these glasses. They can be dressed down or dressed up, and they look elegant either way.
