Yes the plastic is difficult to get out, but not with the right tool!!! I found using a needle to pick up the edge and pop out the plastic was really easy and hardly hurt the plastic piece. Then popped in my own photos and the plastic pieces, no problems. I don't think it looks cheap at all and if you use the needle to get the plastic out, you don't scratch anything up. I've got my three kids displayed, each on their own triangle. They and guest think it is a really neat photo frame.

I don't know how you're supposed to put a picture in it. It's the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Very poor design.

With our home photo printer we could set it up to print 4 pictures per 4"x6" photo paper. My husband took this to work after our son was born and he loves it. We switch out the pictures often and it is so easy. Every morning he spins the cubes to see what pictures he will look at that day and has made a game of it.

This frame is fine if you don't over react to a little plastic. A competent grown adult with a paper clip CAN bend back the plastic and get a picture in. I suggest you use the "came with it" picture as a template for the ones you want to put in. I used a sharpie to "draw" on my new pic's around the edge of my template. I personally think it looks great, and is a very cost effective nice looking frame. Relax previous reviewers - it's just plastic... and a pretty neat final product.

Horrible Design - Scratches Photos

To put pictures in these frames, you have to get a safety pin to lodge off the plastic covering and the "came with the frame" photo. You then have to bend and tuck in the photo you want in the frame and lodge the plastic covering back on top - which by now is a little bent and scratched. The end result is a cheap looking mess. Poor design - not recommended.

I purchased this as a gift based upon the appearance, which I would rate as 4 stars.
I'm rating this unit as 1-star due to [...] the method required to place photos within the frames has the potential to scratch the both the clear plastic covers and the frame itself.

This frame is a very fun one, but very difficult to open without scratching the plastic covers. I found that using a letter opener worked best to slip under the plastic and pry out. If you can get the opener under the paper picture used for display, you have less chance of scratching. [...]
