Schwinn what happened?!

I was very happy when the salesperson rolled out the Schwinn bike shown in the pix. After reading about the problems of shipping online bike orders I wanted to buy in the store. All looked well, seemed sturdy for my mid aged body. Not since my late teen years had I rode a bike.
My first cruise was a disaster! When I went to coast along, I heard what sounded like dice rolling in the rear axel. I checked the bike, all was tight and sound. Picked it up by the rear of the saddle/seat and rotated the pedals and there it was again. A horrible sound that shouldn't be!
Bike went right back to the store, got a full refund. What happened to that Schwinn quality I knew as a young bike rider! Shame!
This bike buying situation is turning out horrible. But the folks at Target were great.

Unsafe rear wheel on Schwinn Legacy

This bicyle was purchased in good faith because of a belief in quality of Schwinn name. Had to replace the brand new rear inner tube before bike was functional. There was a problem with the rear wheel that locked up the coaster brake without warning. Ater having the bike repaired for problem at Bike World, shortly thereafter the bike's rear tire became worn through from having to drag the bike home with a locked up brake some three miles when problem recurred.

I couldn't agree more with the previous post. My son needed a cheap bike for college after his expensive bike was stolen so I got him this one. He told me the rear wheel locked up after a short ride. I went to two different Targets to buy another one and the rear wheel on one made more noise than the next (four in total). The bearings sound like they have sand in them. I have contacted Schwinn and they are sending me a new wheel. However, they are back ordered and I'm waiting. I think they know they have a problem. I have contacted the store and if the wheel does not come then they said they would make it right. Again, what happened to Schwinn?

This bike is plagued with so many problems it could make you sick. Schwinn Quality did not go along with this bike and it really is a nice, comfortable bike..but once the first problem hits, they don't stop. DON'T BUY. Handlebars become easily loose, the front tire unscrews, the BACK TIRE becomes inoperable and sparking me having to take the bike back. Horrible, horrible contraption, and don't buy it even if your life depended on it. A total piece of [junk]!
