Shark vs. H20 Mop November 18, 2008 Reviewer:  Steeler Fan "Leslie L." (Philadelphia, PA)  See all my reviews >

My friend has the H20 mop and let me borrow it to try. I really like it. Like others, it had a bit too much water - but that was fine for me. The triangle head made it easy to fit in corners and the micro fiber pad really did a good job. I used it on my floors on Friday and was out on Saturday looking for it. Couldn't find it so I settled for the Shark instead. It was twenty dollars cheaper - but I figured they both would work equally well. Both had the microfiber pad - which is fantastic (have the swiffer microfiber and love it).

I was really disappointed and wished I would have been more patient in finding the H20 mop. By comparison.

H20 pros - - triangle head fits in corners, good swivel action, steam and water evenly distribute, gets tougher spots up, because of the water distribution easy to push - no friction

H20 cons - - really, really short cord, distributes a lot of water

Shark pros - - cord is long, easy to refill

Shark cons - - absolutely no head swivel, rectangle head doesn't turn to fit into corners, water distribution is very limited (about 3 inches in width), because of lack of water there is no friction so it is difficult to push, does not get out tougher stains.

Overall cleaning tool goes to the H20 mop. After I was finished cleaning with the H20 the dirt on the pad was evenly distributed. When I was finished with the shark the only dirt was at the front of the pad from the forward pushing motion. Because of lack of water, small distribution area took me twice as long as the H20 mop to clean the same area.

Not bad... January 25, 2008 Reviewer:  gator girl "GC" (Florida)  See all my reviews >

This mop is good and bad. The good side: it's convenient--way better than a bucket and mop and dirty water everywhere--and easy to use. It actually picked up the dirt off my tile floor wonderfully (and i have textured, hard-to-clean tile). I was pleasantly surprised! On the bad side, it's overpriced for being such a slim and cheaply-made unit. Plus, once the pads get dirty, you have to wash them and wait for them to dry. For me with a whole first floor of tile, this part is a major inconvenience. And if you want more pads, they'll cost you an extra $25 for 3 of them (almost one-third of the cost of the unit).

For those that doubt it June 20, 2008 Reviewer:  Makin' the Wife happy "Rob" (Indiana)  See all my reviews >

I just went out today and purchased this item. I was actually very leary about it, but I figured I needed something. The store in New Albany had one and I went straight home to test it out.

It went together very easily and I READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. For those that have had negative things to say about it, please read the instructions. If you are going to go out and purchase an item like this, why not use what they recommend. DISTILLED WATER. Use it. It's what, 89 cents at best. That itself eliminates all streaks.

I swept up our kitchen floor and then went to town with it. I steam cleaned it completely (moving everything) in about 20 minutes. I also sprayed a chemical free cleaner around lightly to infuse the scent of fresh cucumbers.

So guys, take the time to get this and use it. You can earn so many "browny points" by spending 20 minutes of your time. Now it's time to do all the hard wood floors.

Do not hesitate to purchase this item. But please, read the instructions and use distilled water.

be wise October 27, 2008 Reviewer:  wised up consumer "RJ" (Lehi, Utah)  See all my reviews >

I noticed most people who love this mop wrote their reviews the same day they purchased. I wonder how they feel now? This mop is not as great as the infomercial makes it out to be. It is fun and quick to use and isn't totally worthless, but after using it for a couple of months now I see the need to scrub on my hands and knees with comet to remove the "deep down" dirt this mop was supposed to magically get up, also it only seems to clean what is right in front and center of the pad, all my edges seem untouched. The pads don't get clean and they pick up all kinds of lint in the wash which comes off onto my floor. I enjoy using this mop because it is quick, but my floor is 15 yr old white vinyl and it pretty much looks bad no matter what, if I had a knew floor and this mop worked the same way I would be furious!!! In this case you don't get what you pay for. It is way!!!!!!! overpriced I don't even think it's worth half of what they're asking.

Wow...Gets floors really clean August 25, 2008 Reviewer:  J. Hogan Real Name (Lake Orion, MI)  See all my reviews >

I recently purchased this item with high hopes. My closet already houses several types of mops and various hard floor vacuum/electric mops...none of which seem to work very well. So I was quite skeptical in advance based on past experiences with other products. Let me start by saying that I have two small children under the age of 5 and have a major problem with juice/food/etc landing on the floor and drying to a sticky, hard mess. I usually have to prespot the multiple areas with extremely hot water and vinegar and let it sit prior to mopping the floors. Even then, the spots are sometimes still there.

After the first use of this mop....I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT!!! It is lightweight which is great because I am small and I find it easy to handle. The cord is nice and long but easy to move around as it is thinner than most vacuum cords. The water tank could be larger, but it did my entire large kitchen and nook area no problem with one tank.

The thing I was amazed by was how well it steamed up all the tough, dried on crud. I did not need to waste time prespoting or going over areas several times. If a spot is really bad, you can just let it sit for a few extra seconds over the spot to loosen it up. I have no idea what some of the reviewers are talking about when they say it works no better than a swifter mop....there is no comparison. (I'm glad I didn't take that to heart and gave it a try...my gain.)

Again, I would highly recommend this product....it comes very close to cleaning on your hands and knees results.

Works great for the price! February 1, 2009 Reviewer:  Pet Lover "Jackie R." See all my reviews >

I was skeptical about this item and others like it. But knowing that I could return it if it was junk, I decided to give it a whirl. I was pleasantly surprised! I have used it for almost a year now and I use it frequently (2-3 times a week) because of pet traffic. We had installed hardwood floors in all rooms except kitchen and baths. I was worried about using my old mop and bucket routine because of the water that is left to sit on the wood to dry. So, I wanted to find something that would clean like a mop, but would not leave a wet residue. I have 4 cats and 3 dogs, all indoors!! Now I know there is nothing out there that works miracles and having pets means a LOT more work to keep your house looking presentable. For example, I had to always play "floor warden" while the floors dried, trying to keep the pets off so they would not leave paw prints! But now, I vacuum first, like before, and then use my shark steam mop and it does a beautiful job! I have direct sun in many rooms, so I can see if there are streaks or debris left behind. Of course you have to vacuum or sweep FIRST to keep the mop from pushing dirt around. This is not a vacuum/steamer combo. I can do my whole house in 30-40 minutes and it is a large house. I did notice that with the pads it came with, it had a tendency to sputter a little water from the top part of the mop head under the pad, but I found that if I use just regular elastic-stretch terry cloth mop pads that this eliminated the problem. They are a little big, but they still fit snuggly on the shark mop head. Once it is dirty, I can just flip it inside-out and it is like having two pads in one. My floors dry within seconds so I don't have to guard them like I did before. The cord could be longer but you just have to plan on switching outlets when you get to other rooms. When the steam seemed to get low, I just primed it by pumping the handle 5-6 times and I was ready to go again. Not a big deal. A LOT easier than dipping and twisting my old mop in dirty water and hauling my bucket from room to room. It was easy to fill as I went. I just kept an eye out and filled it as it got low, so I didn't have to wait for it to heat up. The streaking that some users have commented on may have been from the pad. Try using the stretchy terry cloth ones. I have had no problems with it and I actually look forward to getting my little steamer out. It definitely needs a way of storing, like a base or a hook attachment of some sort. Hard to store because it doesn't stand alone, but then again, neither does my mop. I would absolutely purchase this again! Hope this helps you decide!

Pros and Cons November 19, 2008 Reviewer:  Analyzer See all my reviews >

Worth the price, debatable. Am I glad I purchased it, yes, for the most part. I like that you don't need extra chemicals, that alone reduces the price when other products need chemicals that need to be continually purchased.

I use this on tile, linoleum, and laminate. All my floors I vacuum and swiffer before I mop. I love it on my laminate flooring, and it works well on the linoleum. It works on tile, but it pushes a line of dirt ahead of the pad which I have to wipe up with paper towels.

What I don't like about it; the issue with the tile, the fact that the head doesn't swivel (a big issue with trying to manuever in a bathroom around toilets), and that the handle feels flimsy and like it could break easily (notice on their web site that they sell handles by themselves - must break a lot?). I will go back to my WetJet for the bathroom tile.

Wow! March 1, 2009 Reviewer:  dbs (Springboro, Ohio)  See all my reviews >

I read all the reviews for the Shark, pro and con, and had pretty much decided against it...then picked up one yesterday at Target on impulse. Hosanna! I have acres of brand-new expresso colored (black/brown) hardwood floors and it's a constant battle. Everything shows on it, and mopping always leaves streaks---so obvious against the dark stain. I've tried the expensive hardwood cleaner recommended by the installer, I've tried Basic H, I've tried just plain water---and I was never happy with the results. This morning I thoroughly vaccumned (no brush!) then put together the Shark. Super flimsey, for sure. Immediate skepticism. But I finished putting it together, filled the reservoir, plugged it, and started mopping. Wow! The thin film of water left behind immediately evaporated. Sticky glob under my son's dining room chair? Gone with a couple of swipes. Our kitchen floor---a mess of spots and grease film---zip---all gone! Powder room floor where liquid soap was dripped---presto! Mud spots in the foyer, where Fido got in without her feet wiped---clean as a whistle. And no streaks. Show-room perfect. (Except the tiny chips---trust me, DARK wood floors are NOT maintenance free!) Will it probably fall apart in a few months---yep---that's why I have put my receipt and warranty in a safe place. Is it worth 79.99? You betcha, when the floors look this good. I'm just a happy girl!

This Steamer is Bogus & Overpriced December 28, 2008 Reviewer:  DiannSA See all my reviews >

Apparently my definition of clean is completely different then the majority of the people here. When I think of clean, I’m not just talking about “It appears to LOOK clean, therefore it must be clean.” I want my floors to be spotless, the kind of clean where you can walk across the floor in white socks and they stay white. Just out of curiosity I took a white towel and ran it across the floor that I theoretically cleaned with the steamer. The towel picked up dirt just as I suspected. Not only did it not clean, the steamer also left my laminate floors with a dull appearance. This steamer is bogus, useless, overpriced and a waste of money. You can do a much better job with a regular mop.

Love my Shark Mop December 15, 2008 Reviewer:  Patricia Lomonica "Works smarter not harder" Real Name (Newport Richey, FL.)  See all my reviews >

I cant understand how this mop would get a bad review. I recieved my shark as a gift almost 5 months ago and I absolutly love it! I gave this item 4 stars because there are a couple of things i would change.
1) I think it should be cordless. The cord does become a pain at times.
2) The water tank could be bigger. I have to fill up 3 times to do my entire house of tile and laminate floors(1600 sq. ft.)
Other than those 2 minor details I think this is a great product. There are no chemicals so its safe for my pets and the pads clean in the washing machine (use a touch of bleach for best results). Its so easy to use my 10 year old is able to help out with the floors without the hassel of cleaners.
We use the shark about 2 times a week, it takes about 30 - 45 min total to clean all the floors and the best part is the floor dries almost instantly!
I find you recieve the best results if you fill the tank after 15 min of use and rinse out the pad after use in every room and of course make sure you sweep up before using (I use a swifter vaccuum).
Despite the maintenace of the water tank and pads this product is still much easier to use than traditional mopping. I love it so much I am buying one for my friend for Christmas!
