I've been playing this game with my friends for the past week and we simply love it. No it does not have the next generation look and wide environments but the controls for both wii mote and wii balance board are tight and feel great.
It offers simple tactics by combining a rider with a cameraman depending on the following challenge and the arcady game play is PURE FUN. The real challenges lay in the Respect objectives and the Shaun White objectives for the more hardcore players (try to make 50 000 pts in a Half Pipe!)and the MP game modes are a blast! The game is slick and we will be playing it for a while along with Rock band :D

I too am VERY disappointed with the fact that this version is completely stripped down. I was really looking forward to riding with friends, making my own character(choose outerwear, board, etc). The snowboarding itself on the balance board is top notch though. I gave it a 3 for this, but the game itself for the WII is a complete disappointment. Also, I'm wondering how they charge [....]for half of a game.

It's an okay game. It is pretty realistic, but it's a MAJOR drag with no wifi gaming and being limited to the arcade mode. I'd like to be able to throw the snowballs like the rest of the games, and travel on those mountains. Unfortunately, you can't do that. But overall, the realistic feature of the balance board is really good.

After watching the trailers and previews for this game, i was expecting to be able to freely roam the mountains and get a more realistic experience. All the advertisements make it seem like an open world wit features such as walking around, riding the ski lifts, and even throwing snowballs.
I quickly found out that this is not true, those features are only on the XBOX and PS3 version of the game. "Road Trip" is no more advanced then one of the old N64 cool boarders or SSX games. In fact, it is even less open, it is level based, and some levels only last a minute or so. Each has 2 goals which include picking up 5 crowns or scroing points. It took me roughly 3 hours of gameplay to beat it. Also the character abilities are extremly basic: a few grabs, spins, very few special moves, and the most disappointing, 3 different grinds. On the rail you can 50-50, Frontside Boardslide, and Backside Boardslide. Thats it, no noseslides, tailslides or anything else. Some of you who do not snowboard may not know what these terms mean, but they are simple grinds that should be included in any snowboarding game. Even the old snowboarding games have more tricks and abilities, and this game is supposed to be new technology.
If all you are expecting is a chance to put the balance board to use, then thats all you are gonna get out of this game. I love snowboarding, i love shaun white, but this game does not live up to it's name.

Bought the Target version today - kids couldn't wait the next four weeks to try it. It beat their expectations (and mine), and they had high hopes. So glad we got it. It works for different ages and skill levels. It teaches as well entertains. The game will last the test of time. Highly recommend. This one is really fun.
