NOT FOR A TOY

It ran OK for about 2 hrs, then it stopped responing. Next day one prop seized, had to lube it, happened again and again. Not good in any wind, even in my pool. Don't buy as a gift, you'll just frustrate someone.

Pros and Cons on Simba Sailboat

Reviewer:  Leonard the sailor  (Eustis Fla)  See all my reviews

[...]
3.The rigging was inadequate for the job! Sail and the spars for the rigging line had holes horizontal not vert making re rigging a real chore.
4. There was no rear rigging to keep the main sail from flapping ineffectively in any breeze.
5 The hatch screws are smaller than phillips 1 and even with a model makers phillips 0 it was a chore to open the hatch for battery access.
6. There is ZERO floation in this boat it takes on water and it goes down at the stern and toast the PC board which has not been water proofed or encspsulated from getting wet.
Really Stupid Engineering gets five big stars.

However, if you get the rigging set up with a spar under the jib and an elastic attached to the back of the main sail and a rudder which mine did not have this boat really sails. Just hit the motors to get into the wind and in heels over and moves out.

I plan on buying anither one with rechargable batteries taking it apart adding foam coffee cup floation, silcone the PC board and electricals and re rigging with nylon thread and buying one with a rudder. And Longer larger hatch screws For 20.00 with
some engineering modifications and the 9.6 v transmitter mine was 3 v. this is a really fine RC boat for a pool or small pond.

Very Displeased with this Boat

Reviewer:  Disappointed Dad  (Kentucky)  See all my reviews

Just received the boat. [...] The drycell batteries that they did include did not work. The info on the boat is very misleading. The remote does not control the sail as you would think, but rather two small props under the boat. (So much for teaching kids how to sail) Very fragile contruction. The sail that is supposed to be held on by a fine thread was of course torn away right out of the box. Did they really think that was going to hold? Also, the compartments the batteries are supposed to be installed in are so small you need a special screwdriver just to open them. Also, all the instructions are in German! [...]
