I bought this set last summer on sale for a great price. Looks really good, but all of my chairs have cracks in them.

These didn't last any time at all. I'm really disappointed with this purchase.

The wood faded and cracked within days. This stuff is made in Vietnam, and the product is just really poor quality.

Also, several of the chairs came without the hardware needed to put them together. I had to wait weeks for Target to finally send me the parts I needed. The whole experience was really disappointing.

I wish I'd put the money towards a better quality set.
Don't buy these!!!

I like the chair but it came badly beat up in its packaging and we actually had to glue part of it back together due to the shape it was in at the time of delivery. It is comfy and looks good but disappointed with delivery.

My husband and I bought these last year for our patio. We have been overjoyed with them. We love the style, quality and price for the merchandise!

The assembly of them did take some time but it was well worth it!

Our patio is partially covered. We left them out all year long (Midwestern climate). We have not had any issues with cracking or breaking.

I would recommend these to everyone!

Fabric faded in less than a month.. Wood cracked and split the arms into within less than 3 months.. Not worth the money at all....

Notice the fine print on the box. It said made in China for Target Stores. The only reference to Smith and Hawkins is the name on the box. That said, I bought only two of the dining chairs last fall when they were on clearance at 50.00 each.

I placed them on a small patio with no cover. I moved the cushions inside when not being used. Now, I have moved the chairs inside to keep them from deteriorating. Yep, within days the dark stain on the wood was fading away and small cracks were showing up in the wood.

The number one thing that attracted me to the chairs was the styling. They were absolutely beautiful, stylish and perfect for my decorating direction. However, you don't always get what you pay for. I think that Target uses the S&H name (associated with quality) to ask a higher price for a product that is otherwise inferior to items bought at the S&H showroom. I have also noted that the Targets in my area were all heavily overstocked on these chairs last fall and had them all on clearance. After buying my two, I returned to find that the store was emptied of the product in a matter of days. There is no way that all of the items could have been sold in such a short time.

Now, you see online the same item with 2008 added to the name. These items online seem to me to be last year's left overs priced higher than deserved.

There is no doubt that the items are extremely beautiful to look at but I bought mine to use, not as a vignette.

Purchased table, umbrella, chairs, and chaise lounge chairs in August 2008. There is not a piece of wood that is not cracked at this point (October 2008). We noticed the cracking on the chairs almost immediately - but couldn't return them because they were sold out in the stores, and we didn't want to take a chance on the shipping when we'd already had a bad experience.

As a loyal Target customer who is in the store and online frequently, I never would've questioned the quality or price of Target's outdoor furniture; the quality of Target's merchandise is what sets them apart from other discount retailers, in my opinion. I have learned my lesson in this instance. Never again will I purchase any outdoor furniture, as I basically threw my money away. Consumer beware...

We purchased 2 loveseats, 2 dining chairs, dining table, umbrella, and base from Target last month when they went on clearance. We were going to buy them all anyway at regular price -- seeing as that was a great deal -- but when we went back a few days later and saw them on clearance, we couldn't pass it up.

Got everything home. NO BROKEN PIECES. Installation of everything took about 2 hours, so not bad. When installing, be careful not to tighten the bolts too much when putting the arms on, or they may crack. Also, be sure you are using the right length bolts, as some of the ones provided are very close in length.

Went out and bought some teak oil from [a hardware store] after installing, and applied the next day. I would also recommend buying a vinyl deck storage box to put the cushions and pillows in when not in use to prevent fabric from fading. We got a Suncast one from Target that is a 99 gallon size [...] and it fit all the cushions and pillows from both loveseats and both chairs.

We are very excited to have company over and show off this beautiful set, which is a GREAT price considering it's Smith and Hawken brand.

As long as you are careful when putting the bolts in, get a deck storage box for the cushions and pillows, and seal it with teak oil, I think you will be very happy.

I recommend this set 100% and give it 5 stars.

I purchased the dining table, umbrella and base, 6 dining chairs, 4 club chairs, the loveseat, three side tables, a coffee table, and two ottomans!!! I have not received the club chairs as of yet, but I just love the pieces that I have! I will admit, the dining chairs have an issue with the screws in the arms not being able to be fully tightened, so I put some glue in the holes to help with the grip, but I still love it! This set is nice enough to have indoors, solid wood construction, smooth finish, great lines, and I love the cushion colors and coordinating patterns. A little on the pricey side, but we wanted wooden furniture that didn't look like it was from the 70's! Overall, I think Smith and Hawken would stand behind their product if there are any problems (Target probably wouldn't, their customer service stinks!!), and I am quite pleased.
