We went to about 3 other stores, looked and tried out all other models and brands. the reason for the purchase of this camcorder is that was a new release jan/feb 09. and after trying out A LOT of other camcorders this was the best for price range. The cheaper ones had less options, no dvd-rw, distortion in zooming, and so-on. check out all others and this ONE will have you coming back for it. remember "You get what you pay for!"

I just received this camcorder for my bridal shower. You can also take pictures with it. It is extremely small and easy to use. The picture comes out very clear. I definitely recommend it!

Great Video but Poor Pictures

This is a great camcorder. Clear pictures, and great zooming functions. But when it come to taking still pictures it's not. It does not take clear pictures at all. If you wanted to get prints from this camera the largest size without it getting too distorted is 4x6. I bought this camcorder mainly for recording family events and such but also because I could take still pictures at the same time. A little disappointing, but it's my fault I didn't read on it a little more carefully!

Sony is not concerned about its customers. I have purchased major equipment from Sony that did not come with needed accessories. I tried to contact customer support but they were extremely unqualified to help. You would think that something as simple as trying to purchase a connection cable that was suppose to come supplied with the product would be easy. I have spent the better part of a month trying to purchase what they should have sent to me free. I cannot get anyone from that company to take an interest in providing their customers the needed help. Now I am stuck with an expensive piece of equipment that is useless. Do not buy from Sony, I am telling you that in a years time your model number will be out of date with no recourse to buy necessary parts. It would seem that Sony is more concerned about getting their product to market and sold than they are in offering quality products and customer care. Avoid this company, they do not deserve the business.
