Great Bike June 7, 2008 Reviewer:  sweetheart143 (Massachusetts)  See all my reviews >

I had been searching for a birthday present for my son who is turning 5 when I found this great bike. I was a bit cautious after reading the only review, but he loves spider man, so I bought it anyways. I'm glad I did! the assembly was smooth and easy to do. I had no problems and the issue the other customer had with the brakes was just a misunderstanding with the directions. As it states you have to keep adjusting the brakes to get them to work properly. I had to have my husband handle that part, but besides that it really is a great looking bike.

Durable Stylish Bike August 2, 2008 Reviewer:  Mel See all my reviews >

I bought my son this bike for his 4th birthday and it took 10 minutes to assemble. I also bought the matching safety gear/helmet. My son loves his bike. The only flaw is that the training wheels arent that great at helping him when he does a turn. Other than that its a great bike for the money spent Im glad I bought it.

Proud Parent June 3, 2008 Reviewer:  Kierstin "MOM OF 2 BOYS" (Allentown, PA., USA)  See all my reviews >

I purchased this bike last year from target. I got it right off the showroom floor so fortunately no assembly required for me. My son rides it every time the sun is shining so needless to say we got our moneys worth so far. I would have given it 5 stars if only I did not have to adjust the training wheels at times. The training wheels tend to bend up a little bit. Other than that it's great. My son says it is a 5 stars bike for him. Hope this is helpful for someone.

Piece of Junk May 31, 2008 Reviewer:  C+C's mommy (Oregon)  See all my reviews >

It took forever for my husband to get most of the parts that go into the holes on this bike into the holes, because the holes were too small. After all that work and effort, we had to take the bike back anyway, because the brakes didn't work. They didn't even come close to gripping the wheel. Avoid at all costs.

Run away!!! March 29, 2009 Reviewer:  Father of Three Boys (Charlotte, NC)  See all my reviews >

RUN away!!! Because you can't ride away. It lasted 2 rides. On the third ride, it stranded us. The chain will NOT stay on anymore. We could not get more than 50 yards before it would pop off again. This is after spending an hour getting the rear wheel unbent enough to get the brakes working (poor packing). The front is still as wobbily as can be, but the brakes on the rear had already worn (on one side) because of the imbalance.

It should also be noted that this is NOT a standard tubular frame. The entire middle section is just 2 pieces of sheet metal, bent and welded together. Given the complete lack of quality, I can only imagine what would happen after a couple of years.

Spider man bike
This bike, out of the box, had a front tire that was entirely out of round. The manufacturer puts the handbrake on the rear wheel, thereby making the tolerance on the front wheel not an issue.
The more disturbing part of my experience involves the directions which specified that the model should come with reflectors. There were none. So I called the number on the front of the manual 1-877-BIKEAID. I left a message on a Sunday; I also called on a Monday and spoke to a person. She explained that the manual was printed in another country and was inaccurate about the reflectors: they are not required on 12 or 16 inch bikes because they are not considered street legal anyway. I suggested that they get another printer but accepted what the sales associate said.
A few minutes later, I received a call from a man in response to my voice mail. I told him that the situation was explained to me, and I was ok with accepting the unit as it. He then offered (of his own accord) to send the reflector s if I had any desire of them. I said—thinking that that was a generous offer and I was after all the customer—that I would take them. He then began a perverse tirade of saying that of course that would negate the entire conversation at the start of the call, whereby I acknowledged that I was informed and would do without them. In short, the man was baiting me. I told him I would sooner pay for new reflectors with my own money than accept anything from him. Then I called back and got the woman again, who admitted that “he” was that way, and if I knew him I would understand.
Well, I don’t. In an economy where people are being fired based only on bad luck and seniority, it comes as a particular shock that anyone would behave in such a poor, disrespectful, and hostile manner toward a customer who received misinformation because of out-sourced, unreliable instructions.
I would advise anyone to consider all the other cheap bikes—cheaper than this one—that are on the market and choose accordingly.

DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE! August 17, 2009 Reviewer:  shopper "shopper" (la, ca)  See all my reviews >

ironically, like other reviews, i bought the bike in a box that was opened then taped back up. got it home to assemble and could tell that it was used (scratched, bent frame) took it back and only 2 on the shelf were also open boxes taped back up. whats up with that, target?? while riding the bike, my nephews foot actually GOT CAUGHT between the pedal and the protective bar! very scary! tried for 40 minutes to dislodge his ankle while he screamed in pain! about to call fire department to cut metal when passerby thoguht of lotion to 'lube' up the leg and after patiently trying, we were able to slide the leg out. oh by the way, the back tire deflates as qyickly as you fill it up. what a dangerous waste of money. shame on target for selling an item with so many negative comments. taking the bike back this week and making formal complaint to manufacture.

UNSAFE BIKE April 5, 2009 Reviewer:  a new fan (Virginia)  See all my reviews >

The quality of this bike is extremely poor. Not only that, the hand brake does NOT work. It's fine if you only bike on flat roads and sidewalks, but I had to grab my son off the bike as he rolled down a hill and was unable to stop given the brake did not work. I noticed that only one side of the rear brake was actually touching the wheel and the other one didn't touch at all with the hand brake applied 100%. Very unsafe for young children.

Nice Bike. December 27, 2008 Reviewer:  Happy Father (Eureka Ca.)  See all my reviews >

I was a little apprehensive about this bike after reading some of the reviews posted here. I bought it anyway and I am very happy with this bike. Assembly and adjustments on this bike were all very normal and easy to do. For the price, it's a decent first bike. The graphics are outstanding. My 5 year old could not be happier.

Spiderman Bike July 5, 2009 Reviewer:  Unhappy Grandma (St. Louis, Mo. USA)  See all my reviews >

I purchased this bike for a 6 year old you absolutely loves and has to have everything spiderman. The box it came in looked like it might have been previously opened but since it was the only one I bought it anyway. I only had to do a couple of things to put it together but I had trouble putting on the handbrake so I took it to a bike shop. The rear tire was flat so I had them put a new tube in it and attach the handbrake. The next day I returned it because the rear tire was flat and the back brake was rubbing on the tire so it made it very hard to ride. The bike shop kept it over night and assured me it was fixed. I returned it the next day same flat tire and was told they would fix it again but said the hand brake was not of a good quality and could not be fixed. I'm really unhappy with the quality of the bike but most of all I'm unhappy about the fact that I can't keep air in the rear tire.
