Missing features November 20, 2008 Reviewer:  jt70us "jen T" (franklin, tn)  See all my reviews >

I bought this DVD player for my son to use in the car and I thought I would be able to use it on the plane as well. However, this does not have the capability of running on battery power - only AC and car battery. So I will not be able to take it on the plane with me which was my main reason for purchasing.

Another thing I was dissapointed in is that although it comes with a remote control, the sound adjustment is manual only, not able to be controlled with the remote. So I am unable to adjust the volume for my son in the back seat while driving as the controls for the volume are on the screen that is attached to the back seat.

It seems to play well and I have not had any major issues with it, but it is just missing some key features that I need in a portable DVD player.

Plays videos.. and not very well November 28, 2008 Reviewer:  Ruptured Spleen See all my reviews >

TruTech products are cheap. They are cheaply made, feel and look cheap, and perform as one should expect at their price point. It's no surprise that most stores sell TruTech products as "loss leaders" within their electronics products. A quick scan of reviews of TruTech items shows consistently mediocre feedback. Set your expectations low and the LMD-5702RT might suit your barest needs.

In my case, the LMD-5702RT did not meet the basic requirement of playing a DVD well. The LMD-5702RT played DVDs with an annoying incremental skip with every disc. The audio is atrocious, to say the least, shrill with no midrange or bass, and the volume cannot be adjusted via the remote, which presents a significant problem for the parent in the front seat.

Video quality is marginal. Details are muted and colors are over-saturated. Blacks are grey. The unit(s) are pretty-much un-viewable in daylight, particularly when the sun is coming into the vehicle at acute angles. The primary users of the LMD-5702RT are not the most discerning audience. However, when both complained that the thing was "terrible", I realized it was time to return it to Target and purchase a better quality product.

The price is attractive. Regardless, avoid this product.

Burn baby burn November 28, 2008 Reviewer:  Bama Mama (Heart of Dixie, USA)  See all my reviews >

We bought this for a road trip to Florida (7 hour drive), and within the first hour it burned up the back of the seats of my husbands new G35. Now he wants a divorce because he told me not to buy that item. Stupid me, always looking for a bargain.

power cord replacement July 11, 2009 Reviewer:  nicole b See all my reviews >

Ok I just wanted to let everyone know that I had the power cord break also and I went to walmart. There is a universal power cord pack that was 15.88 and it works. So i just thought I'd share this info. Hope it helps.

What is everyone complaining about? These are great! November 28, 2008 Reviewer:  C. Zullo "carlene412" Real Name (Was Boston, Ma. Now South Portland, Me.)  See all my reviews >

We have had these for about 8 months and have never had a problem with them. They work great even though my daughter has taken a fit and kicked them a few times....no problems here. I highly recommend them!

IF YOU'RE ONLY PLANNING TO USE IT A COUPLE OF TIMES, THEN... March 3, 2009 Reviewer:  Unhappy Mom! See all my reviews >

THIS IS THE PRODUCT FOR YOU! After using this 3x, it stopped playing, I wish I kept the receipt and box for it, maybe I could've returned it. I've been buying portable dvd players every year b/c they never lasted more than 6 months, I still can't find one that will last for more than a year. If I didn't have 2 little girls to keep occupied on our long trips I wouldn't buy one anymore. But I read on Consumer report the best portable DVD player is the Sony DVP-FX820 est. price is [....], so I'm gonna try it even though it's a little more than I'd like to spend, and it doesn't have a dual screen. But this time I'm gonna buy the extended warranty, I think you have to if you wanna get a portable dvd player.

HORRIBLE February 27, 2009 Reviewer:  BNBmom "Melynda F" (Metairie, LA)  See all my reviews >

I purchased this the day after Thanksgiving for what I thought was a great price.....Well as the old saying goes, "You get what you pay for!". After two weeks one of the screens lost sound. I returned it to the store and they exchanged without a problem. I did get the same item again. About one month later, the player stopped playing completely. It wouldn't recognize the dvds. I had thrown away the box, but had saved everything else. The return clerk was a bit rude at first and didn't want to issue a refund because I did not have the box. She then called a manager who agreed to give me a refund. In conversation the clerk told me that she herself would NEVER purchase this brand because it was cheaply made!!!!! If you buy....keep everything!!!!! Box and all!!!

Love it! January 2, 2009 Reviewer:  J. Stellhorn Real Name (Michigan)  See all my reviews >

I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old that has to go for long car rides once a week. I could not have given her a better gift, I have not seen her eyes get that big as when she got in the van and saw Scooby Doo playing right in front of her! We have used ours for two months no problems so far. If I could post a picture here I would, it is priceless!

Good deal November 30, 2008 Reviewer:  Jennifer M. See all my reviews >

You get what you pay for. I am happy with this. My child is older so she can change out the dvd's and press the controls by herself. If you have toddlers, this won't work for you because the driver can't control anything while driving. As stated in another review, the remote has limited capability.

I bought mine to use only for long car trips. It is not a good choice for running errands because it is only charged by the car battery so it restarts every time I turn off the car. Some cars have outlets that stay on constantly (even when the car is turned off), mine does not.

We took it on a 6 hour road trip and the kids were happy and we were happy. Even if it lasts me only a year, it will have been worth it for the money.

Waste of Money August 3, 2009 Reviewer:  S. McNamara Real Name (Charlotte, NC)  See all my reviews >

I too bought this product on Black Friday, thinking I was getting a deal. We travel a lot and thought this was the best purchase we had ever made. Until five months later when the second screen stopped working. I've looked high and low for replacement cords, bought countless amounts of audio/video cords and even spliced together my own power cords and have had no luck getting it to work. Next time I'll just spend the extra money and get a quality product.
