I'm very pleased with this. In the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina I get 17 picture-perfect stations, and the HD channels look *great* on my 15-year-old JVC set. There's a couple more stations that I might get if I didn't live out in the woodwork, but all of the major networks and sub-stations I get, no problem.

The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because the menu fonts are smallish, and not so easy to read if your TV set isn't ginormous. Mine's only 20".

Just got this yesterday when it was on sale [...] and used my $40.00 coupon...only paid [a few dollars]! Very nice looking small unit. Very easy to install. We don't have cable and previously only got 1 station that was pretty blurry. With this box hooked up we get 18 channels (oregon) and they are all crystal clear! Couldn't be happier...definately recommend purchasing this unit.

Have purchased both the Insignia converter and the Venturer. The operation is very similar for both [supposedly they share the same LG components]. However, the Insignia has a more sensitive tuner. Both units detect 12 channels in my area, but the Venturer has more dropped video/audio frames or indicates "no signal" while the Insignia is able to display the channel.

Venturer pluses-

very small form factor
excellent picture quality [with strong tv signal]
excellent sound quality
tv aspect ratio is global for all channels [no need to set it for each channel]
easy to set up and easy to navigate menus
fast channel scan [less than minute, plus easy to re-scan to add new channels]
OneForAll remote control is able to control the box for channel changes and power on/off

Minuses-

tuner not as sensitive as the Zenith/Insignia model
no electronic program guide

May be a good value for people with good/strong tv reception, fringe areas would want a more sensitive tuner.

I bought two of these. One is for a 16 year old set, the other is 10 years old. I connected to just the rabbit ear (only has one extension) on the older set, and the picture is incredible! The other one is equally impressive. The picture is better than it ever way. I'm going to get a digtital antenna for each set, just to get even better reception. This is a definite buy!!!!

I bought 2 and both installed and worked great without even reading the manual. They were hooked to two very old TVs. The reception/picture is better with the converter than it was with just an antenna.

The converter box lets you set the aspect ratio so that the older TV squarish screens get a full picture rather than a wide screen that does not go to the top or bottom of the screen.

They also work great with DISH Network TV. You just have to turn the converter to standeby mode and the converter lets the analog channels (i.e. the DISH network selected channel) pass through.

The box works and was easy to setup. However, manual doesn't state how to control the TV power and TV volume with the remote. I would like to use one remote, not two and the menus on the converter box and manual don't tell you how to program the remote to control the TV.

This converter box is pretty good - it takes up little room and really easy to set up! It has good reception for almost all the channels except channel 13 - ABC (down in Houston). With the $40 coupon and it being on sale, it was really cheap!

The remote is pretty small, so be sure and don't lose it! Plus it seems like if you step on it once, it might break! Overall a good value for the money!

I stalled as long as I could on spending any money on a digital converter box. I did have a coupon, so it wasn't too bad. And let me tell you, this particular box is FANTASTIC! I set it up in about 10 minutes -- it would have been less, but my TV settings required just a little tinkering.

The picture is CRYSTAL CLEAR and crisp -- better than when I had cable, which I can no longer afford. This is a fantastic box to get. I still have one coupon left over and I plan on buying a second one for when I move into my new home and buy a second TV set.

Get the coupon so you don't have to put out all the money yourself. This box is well worth it! I set it up very quickly and I am no technical genius, let me assure you. I was so scared about setting this up and the whole digital switch thing. But this box has made my TV brand-new again. I still cannot get over the crystal clear picture I get on every single channel. And all of the channels that are now available to me that I never knew about.

Like I said, get this box! You won't be sorry.

I REALLY LOVE THIS CONVERTER. THE INSTALLATION IS EASY AND THE PICTURE IS CRISP AND CLEAR. EASY TO USE. LOW PRICE AND SMALL. THAT'S WHAT I NEED WITH MY LIMITED SPACE. I WAS RECOMMENDED BY MY FRIEND AND I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE TOO.
