I am a pediatric RN and have seen a variety of humidifiers. THe humidifier tents we use in the hospital sound like a jet engine.
I bought this humidifier based on water capacity , settings, and duration. I love this unit. I initally turn it on high while I do the last minute chores and then turn it to low for the night. You never see the mist but I can feel it. Yes you need to fill using the tub faucet cause the water reservoir won't fit in the sink. So what. The unit is reasonably quiet and does provide the moisture I need . In fact I have three units for each of the bedrooms.

I bought this for my baby's room. It is very noisy and the "glug-glug-glug" is so loud and frequent that it woke the baby up. I had to replace the filter after one use (it disenigrated inside the machine). On the 3rd use, the water leaked from every available angle. It went right in the garbage!

Our Pediatrician recommended we use a cool mist humidifier instead of the warm mist (which I have used without any issues since I was pregnant- my daughter is now 6). We choose this because it was the moderately priced unit. It did have a strange smell when we first started using it- eventually the smell does fade. However - On low - after running all night - it barely used any water. On high it sounds like a Jet Engine. But in order for it to put any moistier in the air you have to keep it on high. My warm mist humidifier would be empty by morning. Very unhappy- hopefully I can find something a little better.

Have had this humidifier for 2 years, love it. Works great in my little girls room. Easy to clean, compared to others. Those that have complained about smells, I've never had that problem as long as you keep your room clean of dirty laundry and keep filters clean. You have to buy a new one about every 4 weeks, that's why i gave it a 4 not a 5. Although it's very easy to find the filters at another retailer, target or another retailer it gets pricey having to replace it every 4 weeks. I've never had problems with it leaking as long as you make sure you place the water basin on correctly. And i have to agree with others it works great as white noise for the little ones when they sleep.

Am returning after only 1 use. I cleaned it just as the instructions say, but it really smelled bad in the morning after I ran it during the night for my 13month old son. The noise level was ok. It got 2 stars because it worked ok for him. Kind of loud on Hi, but he slept through it ok. I am taking it back and trying out one of the Crane humidifiers...

We've been using these humidifiers for three years or more. We like the white noise as it cuts out the neighborhood sounds. I add extra water to the holding tank as it gets low, but our filters last more than a month, probably more. When the filter starts to discolor, which is normal, I turn it over. When that side discolors and starts to become too soft, I replace it after cleaning out the interior part with vinegar to kill any mold. This system has worked wonderfully for my family and is extremely low maintenance.

I use this humidifier in my 9 month old sons room. He had a few colds last winter and the moist air helped. The unit is loud, which was sort of nice because it provided "white noise" for my son to sleep to when he was already irritable. When the unit is full it has to say in place until it runs through all the water or else you will be moping water off your floor. You do have to clean or replace the filters often. For a cheap humidifier it is fine - I would rather deal with these quirks than spend $150.

Bought this unit due to my horrible allergies which were exacerbated during pregnancy. The filter went bad in less than a month. The high setting has loud fan noise. The unit smells if you use it everyday and don't empty the water EVERY day. It's also difficult to fill basin with water in a standard sink. I have to fill in the bathtub to get it filled all the way. Buy a different unit. I thought I might use this in the baby's room. NO WAY!

I've had this in my son's room for 5 months. It works fine, although it goes through filters quickly, which gets expensive. Make sure there is no water in the tank or the unit when you move it or it will leak.

I'm okay with the product - low fan is quiet and high fan is a little too loud - if there were a medium, it would be perfect. Frustrated b/c I can't seem to find the filter refill and don't want to have to order them. hard to trust the "invisible" mist but know it works b/c the water level does go down. I'm not running out to buy another but will research more next time.
