If you try to use this above water, the buttons are a little stiff, but underwater this camera is great and very durable! I have gorgeous piture from snorkling in Grand Caymans - it takes bit of battery power though, so get rechargables and have a few pair handy - just dont forget to dry off before you change batteries... thats how I ruined mine =( (Also has no lends cover)

I just got this camera for my birthday and it takes great pictures and short movies anywhere, even underwater! The reason why we can take this camera underwater is because of its waterproof case which protects the camera from anything, like sand and rain. I really enjoyed it because it was a lot of fun taking it to the beach taking pictures of it with my friends. It was definitely worth the price and you should for sure buy this camera.

we just got back from a cruise to the caribbean and bought this camera for all the snorkeling. Although it was hard to tell or see the pictures you were taking, when we got home, they were really good photos. it is also hard to tell if you are videotaping or not. we tried to videotape a bit and we got some video but it is hard to actually see what you are taping or taking a photo of. you just have to point and hope you get it. the quality of pictures we did get were amazing and we were very happy with the final results. i would recommend getting at least a 4 gb card for it and make sure you have lots of batteries.

We got this camera for the under water feature, however you really cant see the lcd screen outdoors in any kind of sunlight. Unless your standing in the shade looking at the screen it just looks blank. Another knock would be the slow shutter speed. Would miss any action shot. However, when you upload the pictures they did show up nice. I'm returning it for the Fuji one. Little more $$ but reviews seem much better.

Pros:
Great picture quality - i love this!
ruggedized - specially for me since i know I would drop it a million times. This is the only reason I'm keeping it and not returning it...I need something stable that won't break!
waterproof
LCD
coolcolor
cons:
hard to delete pictures
no sound in video
hard to press buttons
yellow gets dirtied and black quickly
dents easy
flash is awful, you have to wait a long time if you want to take a pic with it, and if you dont have flash on then your picture is horrible.
hard to operate
so if you want to take a load of pictures really quickly, this isn't your camera. but if your just going to go to the beach or pool take a few pictures with friends then you should get this.
i probably will return it, vivitar has another camera (not ruggedized) . Anyways hope this helps!

Bought this before our trip to Maui. Needed an extra camera that would work underwater. So far have only taken a few dozen shots at home and in my neighbors pool. The photos turned out pretty good. I really like this camera for its price and what it can do - take good pictures underwater (down to 30 ft). The auto flash is too bright sometimes - washes out the shot. No zoom - oh well. A fairly crude camera but for the right shots it's great. Can't expect more for a camera under $100.

Bought this camera for a trip to Hawaii. I was a little hesitant to buy this camera, but happily decided to take the plunge. I found the picture quality both above and below the water to be great. It was nice to take this to the beach and pool and not have to worry about someone splashing it.
I do agree with others that the LCD is basically unusable under water. You just have to point and hope you got the shot.

I bought this kids to take pics underwater, I mean duh, ha ha
This camera has awesome pics and we went 50 feet into the water and it worked awesome.
But, the camera has a slower shutter pacing.
Well either way I would for sure buy this again without any hesitation.

I ordered this from the web site, because it's not sold in stores. It feels bulky and light, like cheap chinese electronics, the buttons are not responsive, the firmware has few options and constantly resets some things (like flash settings). It doesn't use a standard USB mini cable as the description claims. The imaging sensor is horrible - The pictures are flat and grainy, and almost as bad as my camera phone. I returned it within 24 hours.
