i bought this rack instore, took it home and it fell immediately thereafter. its unstable when holding more than around ten items. it isnt ideal for jackets or anything other than maybe some shirts and dress bottoms. like i said, you get what you pay for.

Terrible, Terrible! March 8, 2007 Reviewer:  andrieya (astoria, ny)  See all my reviews >

It was wobbly from the moment I put it together. It seemed as if the pieces didn't really fit in the first place. Every day since then, I've been cautiously waiting for it to just fall over...and today was that day. If I lived near a Target, I'd have returned it right after receiving it in the mail.

Not for heavy items January 11, 2007 Reviewer:  mighty atom See all my reviews >

This may be obvious, but do not buy this product if you have a lot of clothing to hang on it. It will collapse. Otherwise was fine with assembly and adjusting and rolling. But more than 15 items or so and it starts to buckle. Next time I will not be such a cheapskate.

Pathetic Quality February 15, 2007 Reviewer:  Momof5 See all my reviews >

I bought this rack to use for my ironing needs. It was really unstable and collapsed. The plastic connectors are inadequate for the weight of clothing, or for the shifting that the rack does when you try to move it. I seriously feel like this rack is a waste of money. Like a previous post says "Next time I won't be such a cheapskate". Not worth the $20 at all. An all metal rack is a must!

A very weak rack January 25, 2007 Reviewer:  China Dancer "China D." (Charlotte, NC, USA)  See all my reviews >

This is not for you if you plan to hang anything of weight. I had purchased it for a fashion show, and we had hung about 25 outfits (some costumes are very light and a few are heavy) and it collapsed in 10 minutes. The connector broke off and all the items fell and it was quite a mess to reorganize. Even though the item was cheap to purchase and easy to assemble it turned out to be useless. Not even worth the $20.

Garbage! July 16, 2008 Reviewer:  Olut See all my reviews >

It was a nice garment rack... for about two days. The bottom supports are made of plastic and they snapped on both sides where the poles are inserted, bringing down the entire rack and spilling clothing all over the floor. It says it will support up to 100 lbs., but it snapped at way less.

I returned this and bought Target/Whitmor's $40 version, (can't find it online, but it has canvas cover and is 46" wide) and it has the same cheap plastic base pieces. The way the first one snapped, this one will, too... so back it goes.

If you're going to keep these filled, don't buy one that has all the weight supported by these plastic pieces!

A disappointment in a line of great products. April 7, 2008 Reviewer:  Kitty "=^.^=" (USA)  See all my reviews >

Whitmor makes great metal shelving units, but this garment rack is, literally, a flop. While it was easy to assemble (hence my generous extra star in the rating), the wheels kept falling out when I tried to roll it anywhere. It can't take a lot of weight and tips over at the drop of a hat, with or without the wheels. Their all-metal shelving units are wonderfully sturdy and strong, but this garment rack has a horribly unstable plastic base. Don't waste your money on it.

What a piece of ... July 15, 2008 Reviewer:  SAM (PA)  See all my reviews >

I purchased this item to use to help me sort clothes I no longer wanted. I then used it to display clothes during a garage sale. The "metal" of the rack bent, then broke apart during the sale and the clothes fell to the ground. Don't use this unless you only plan on using it to hold a few items.

Cheap Junk March 13, 2009 Reviewer:  West Florida See all my reviews >

It looked pretty good until I started putting clothes on it. All of a sudden it twisted to one side, bowed over and spilled all the clothes to the ground. What incredible junk. If you just want something to hang 3 or 4 shirts that you've just ironed, this is fine. But if you want a storage rack, don't bother with this flimsy piece.
