I got this for my son who is 6 to help him keep track of his money. First off when he takes money out you have to take everything out and put it back in to re-calculate. Also, it would not count the dimes about half of the time. It was fun but not worth it if you are buying it for the counting.

The product shipped looks much different than the image shown - the jar is completely plain with a cheap, plastic gray lid. Still counts money, but it's literally a different product that what is displayed here. It's basically a regular glass jar that counts money. Disappointing.

This product was a huge disappointment. It registered dimes as pennies. I tried resetting it, using different dimes, and inserting the dimes in different ways and at different speeds, but they consistently registered as pennies. I didn't mind that it was made of plastic because I was buying it for a 6 year old boy. Otherwise, I would have liked the product. I will be returning it.

This product helps my child to learn the value of money. He is eager to collect and save his coins and then when it's filled we take it to the bank and drop it in the coin counter to turn it into cash; a portion must go into the savings account and the other portion he can spend on anything he wants. I totally agree with the other reviews about the dimes counting as pennies, but look at on the bright side, your child will have more money saved/earned than he/she thought and the expression on the face is priceless. My son saved alot on his 1st fill.

Our 15 year old son leaves loose change all over his dresser so we bought him this money jar for Christmas. He loves it! He throws all his change in there now. It is a great incentive to save because you see the money adding up. Whenever I find loose change I go in his room and put it in the jar too. It's lots of fun.

My five year old loves this toy. It is educational and teaches him that a "penny saved" really "is a penny earned"

The first jar I got as a present was already fun for me! Feed the slot with different sizes of (U.S. currency) coin and it will automatically determine the denomination and add them up for you, telling you how much money is in the jar. Accepts quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies only. I tried slipping a dollar coin and it did when I really pushed hard BUT the mechanism only read it as $0.25. My whole family loves it and the jar motivates us to keep on feeding it with our spare change! When we filled it up with about $150 worth of coins, we received a new one from my aunt and so we're in the process of filling up the second one now. Great gift for anyone!
