My trouble was that since my room doesn't have a light that is connected to the house, it was hard for me to come in my room and find the light to turn it on. Now with this I can just come in and the light turns on automatically!! I thought I was gonna have to pay a ton but this was very affordable and the quality is great!!
The ad blurb had next to nothing useful in it so I contacted the Practecol people who told me it works with both incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and it is sensitive to ambient light, meaning, I assume, that it will not turn on in the daytime. I also asked and they said you can use it in a lamp as long as the shade is not covering the sensor.
This product is a wonderful, simple and an inexpensive safety
device. If you can change a light bulb...then you can install this yourself...works with most all new and/or old bulbs.
Some applications that we have are.
1. A great way to illuminate your garage...esp. if your auto doors don't turn on the lights...even so, this is great to just walk in the area and the lights come on while you are there.
2. We put thesein all our frequently used closets...now the light is automatic...we also put one in our pantry.
3. Wonderful for those "dark stairways"...esp. to basements and situations, where your hands are full.
4. We have an old porch without automatic lighting...works there too!
No cons, other than the current price which hopefully come down soon...but certainly more cost-effective than hiring an eletrican...if you are not building or remodeling.
