My husband and I just bought this dresser last night when I noticed it was on sale. We went to the store, picked up and he put it together as soon as we got home. The color is exactly what I wanted, a little darker than pictured but definitely espresso. The box wasn't damaged and all of the parts were there. My husband put it together in about an hour or so. He is 6' 2" and said it's a good height for him. I'm 5' 2" and it's good for me as well. My husband wishes the drawers opened a little more quietly but I'm okay with them. Very hesitant to buy something I could only see a picture of online and am very impressed. I'll be purchasing the Bentley Crib as soon as it goes on sale. see less

This gets a 5 star rating despite the assembly time b/c you're getting what you pay for - a great value for the style, size and quality of the product. You can order dressers that come fully assembled and you'll pay at least double if not more. The only negative is the number of pieces this comes in which results in the excessive assemply time. That said, all of the pieces and parts were included and none of them were damaged. This was a two person job for sure and I suggest wood glue for the dowels. Once it's together, it looks great. I ordered the dresser along with the crib, changing table, glider and ottoman and I'm pleased with all of the them. see less

My husband and I purchased this and it is absolutely stunning! Yes, it does take a while to put together, but I knew that going into it so I think I was prepared. It took me a long time but in the end, through some trials and perseverance, I DID IT!! You do need a little bit of outside assistance at times but I did it by following the directions step by step. A couple of my drawers didn't fit so I called the company and they sent me the new parts. I did have to wait a while for those but they sent them without any questions. This was a lucky find for us because we had originally purchased a set from another store just to find out that our order had been cancelled because part of the set wasn't available. When this dresser arrived, I was so impressed with how sturdy the wood felt, especially compared to my older son's dresser. The drawers have the metal glides and are very smooth. While it took a bit of time to put together, the directions were straightforward and easy. The part that I like the most is how solid and strong the dresser feels once it is put together and definitely seems long lasting! see less

I can't say enough great things about this entire set! It is a better quality than a lot of sets I have seen for a much higher price. I have gotten so many complements on this set when people stop to see the nursery and they can't believe the price! Beyond a great value!!! I particularly love this piece because of its versatility. I started out using it as a hutch piece but it comes with a piece that will convert it into a bookcase. When my son gets older and I want to change things up it will grow with him making it an even greater value. I have to say even if I change the other pieces out in this set over the years I will coninue to use this piece and the dresser. see less

I purchased this piece after buying the crib and dresser. I was so pleased with the vaule, quality, and appearence of the collection that I order the hutch and nightstand as soon as they were available online. I also fully intend to order the toddler rail as soon as it is available. The item arrived in a timely manner, and was OK to assemble. The directions are a little confusing, but if you use common sense it works out fine. I would definitely recommend this product for its value, style, and ability to grow with your child. When I came across this one on Target, I was a little hesitant because of the price. And I hate buying furniture online because I can't touch it and judge the quality. But I happened to find this headboard [...] and after reading the reviews, I was convinced. And I am so happy I bought it! It arrived within about 4 days from buying it.. even though it was estimated to deliver over a month out.. and the quality is exceptional. This was by far the best one I found, especially for the price! It came in 3 large shipping boxes and only one piece was slightly dented but still very usable. It took my husband and his friend 8 hours to put together though. So make sure you have time set aside to assemble. But for [$] dollars it's worth it. Not to mention my daughter loves it and gets compliments from everyone who sees it! The drawer quality should be improved though, it's good enough, but pretty shaky going in and out. see less

The only bad thing about the bed it that the edges are sharp and the drawer handles are very sharp.I have found myself getting off of his bed very cautiously so as to not scratch my legs up. My husband just put this dresser together over the weekend, and it didn't take him long. It's nice looking, has deep drawers, and a great espresso color. It matched perfectly our Graco Lauren espresso crib. Only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the pegs that are supposed to keep the bottom piece in place did not fit, so he had to go and purchase screws to finish that. I am saddened to hear some of the negative reviews, that the quality may have gone down, but I will speak on my experience which has been EXCELLENT! I purchased this dresser, along with the nightstand, almost seven years ago now. I initially got it as a single girl and it endured THREE moves throughout that time, very well. It was PERFECT! Very feminine with that "french country" style that I love. Also the right size & sturdy. Now, as I have an almost 3 month old baby girl, I am using this furniture in her nursery, my husband attached a changing pad to the dresser- so easy!, and it's still PERFECT. I think she'll be able to use it for years to come still, as it continues to be in great shape! see less

We now own four pieces of Shabby Chic furniture. My daughter's previous dresser was from Target as well and it did not hold up well, so I was a little worried about this purchase. However, the dresser has turned out to be very beautiful and sturdy in her room. It was easy to put together and all the little details are really cute. It's a soft off-white color and though it did have a smell to it, I can already tell that it's wearing off as many new furniture pieces do. It's heavy and solid, which I love. I love that there are no unfinished sides, such as backs of drawers, etc. I can tell it's going to last a long time. We love it! see less

It's not high quality, but for $200, I don't expect it to be. If I wanted furniture that is solid, high quality, and that I do not have to assemble, I would have bought something at [...]. For those who have commented about poor quality, screws loosening upon moving it, etc., it is what it is. It's RTA furniture and I didn't have high expectations. We were looking for a "big girl" bed that our daughters could grow into. They wanted bunk beds for fun. This hits both! We were able to repurpose the twin mattresses they had as the upper bunk and only buy the double for the bottom, no box springs needed. When they out grow the bunk beds, we just take the twin off and they have their big girl beds. The quality is excellent. Assembly was a bit challenging. My husband said "This is a bed kit!". The wood is solid and not the press board you often see. The paint was sprayed on and looks perfect. We could not be more excited with the value and the girls are delighted with thier new beds. see less

Cant find a style bunk bed like this 4 the price and quality at any other furniture store. Looked everywhere, glad that we decided to get this for our 3 yr old. We only have 1 kid, but for now she sleeps on the bottom, which actually works out for me as I lay with her until she is asleep and all her dolls are on the top bunk...storage! The slant ladder makes it easy and safe for her to climb up and down and it's not in the way. Having beds for overnite guests is another great use we are getting. Beds can be separated and if she has a bro or sis in the future, it will be useful for that too. My husband put the bed together and took no more than 4 hours. All the wood pieces are labled with stickers to facilitate assembly. Only reason I knocked a star off on quality is because the wood is not the best, but can't really expect any thing more. The price is already great and I'm sure it will last longer than expected. We are happy and satisfied with this purchase. see less

I only have one complaint ... see more

I only have one complaint on this bunk bed and it is significant, in my opinion. The white paint was off-gassing VOCs to the point the kids and I could only be in the room for a few minutes before getting light headed. We tried all the tricks - fans, windows, high heat, onions, vinegar, baking soda - to no avail. I finally decided to pull it apart, partially sand it down, prime it with AFM Safecoat to seal in the remaining fumes, and recoat it with some quality paint. In hindsight, it would have been just as quick and effective to fully sand it down, but I ordered the primer/sealer before I started to sand. Other than that - this is a great deal compared to any other bunk beds I could find. The bunk beds are solid, the wood is mostly solid pine, and the parts fit together well. After about 100 dollars in materials and 20-ish hours, it is much better and safer than new. If it wasn't for the poor and dangerous paint - I would have given 5 stars. see less

She is only 27 lbs and by no means heavy but the wood seems very lightweight and not of super high density. It is a great size and looks great but not sure how durable it is. This bed is very good for the price you pay. It can be a little wobbly if the kids are bouncing around too much on the top bunk, so I am careful to not let them be too rough on the bed. Not sure if the bed was put together exactly to instructions, since I did not put it together, but the only downfall is the head of the mattress tends to "sink" because it's barely held in place by the last rung. If there were more rungs holding the mattress, I think it would seem more supportive. But again for the price, its a good bed for the kids. I like the sort of modern style and the dark wood color. see less

We ordered 2 for our girls and they are sturdy and hold everything we need for them. True they are not going to last for years and years. Looking at this product's instructions was beyond daunting. There were so many pieces and steps but overall it was NOT hard to put together. I did a lot of it myself at 7 months pregnant! My husband did the hammering and any heavy lifting (there wasn't much). Overall it was a smooth process and the end product is perfect!It is a very sturdy piece of furniture for the price, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality! I LOVE that the drawers have stoppers that keep them from sliding all the way out onto little toes, some drawers do not have this option! The cherry color looks lighter online that in person I think. I got this to go with my Graco Charleston crib and changing table for the nursery and it is a tad lighter but not by much! It looks GREAT together as a set! The drawers are NOT flimsy and will hold a good bit of weight, they are also deeper than I thought! One problem I did find was after assembly I noticed 2 small scratches on the top piece but the product comes with a cover up pen and it is hardly noticeable at all...I figure this is going in my sons room and he will do more damage once he gets older so no use worrying about a tiny scratch! The dresser looks great, a little darker than I thought, but I like that it is. Took my husband longer to put together than expected, holes didn't line up and some screws were defective. We just use some of our own. The drawers are slow to open and bottoms are not much more than thick cardboard, so will not be able to pack them very full or heavy, but overall it's what you can expect for the money you pay for it. It does look nice, and we like it enough to keep it. Will get something else when he is older, but for the first few years it should do the job. see less

The back is basically a piece of cardboard and the drawer hardware is made of plastic. Like the other reviewer said, we plan on using this until our baby girl is a little older. We chose this dresser online, and were not sure really what to expect since we weren't able to see it in person before ordering. We are completely happy with our choice! Assembly took about an hour - I'm 8 months pregnant! - and the dresser is beautiful. It's a natural dark cherry finish, rather than a faux bright red cherry finish. The drawers slide easily, are are perfectly sized to hold all of my son's baby clothes. The dresser comes with safety brackets, to secure it to the wall so little ones can't tip it over. The assembly instructions were easy to read and understand, and the only tool we needed was a phillips-head screwdriver, although the safety bracket requires a drill for installing the anchor into the wall. Although the dresser is primarily pressboard, it is heavy duty and seems very well constructed - this should last our son many years! see less

What I really love about this bed is there is a space underneath for her to play or do what ever she feels. It is her own personnal space. We got this bed for our 4 year old son. My husband put it together in a couple hours. I only had to help him lift in up on the two ends. Our son easily goes up and down the latter. It's quite sturdy. The only complaint I can come up with would be the middle drawer of the dresser. We have to push it a certain way to close it, but I think that it partially my husbands doing when he put it together. Not too bad to put together, I put most of it together myself, needed my husband to help me lift the bed portion onto the dresser tops. This is a solid piece of furniture, although I did tell my daughter not too jump on it :) The space underneath fits the matching desk, or is really cute with a chair and lamp, she like to sit underneath and read books! Our daughter also loved the My little pony bedding, it's super soft. Yes i would recommend this bed to any little girl that loves Dora! We put the bed in the same place where her crib was. I was worried that she would fall off her bed at night but she never did. The railings where just big enough. Shes super happy for the bed played in there with her toys all day today. I bought this bed for my 2 year old granddaughter. It is her first big girl bed and she loves it. It is not too high off the ground so good height for her to get in and out of. Also has a good size side rail. Many of the toddler beds I looked at had side rails that were too short. This bed will also convert to a bigger bed when she gets too big for the the toddler size. It is well made and sturdy. I was pleasantly surprised at how well made it was considering the price. It wasn't terrible to put together, but it took a couple hours at minimum. There were a couple minimal scratches, but the chest comes with a brown pen to cover those up. Unfortunately, a magic brown pen will not fill in two "chucks" of particle board that were missing - one on the front of a drawer and another on the baseboard. Small issues aren't a problem, but these were very disappointing because nothing will cover them or fill them in properly. We finished putting it together anyway, not wanting to hassle with a return. It looks great - aside from the two bright blonde "holes" - and it is extremely sturdy. Plenty of room for storage. If you don't mind having a pre-dinged up piece of furniture, this is an okay deal. see less

I agree with the other reviewer. It is a nice bed, but it does take a lot of work. If you are not very handy like me, expect to spend a whole day doing it alone. The bed is rather sturdy. I was afraid that it would be cheaply made. It is a good value for the amount that you pay. My biggest gripe about the bed is that the handles for the drawers are metal and have sharp edges which are not the most ideal for a child's bed. I actually took them off because my son skinned his shins on them twice. My wife and I have gone to Lowe's and Home Depot to look for replacements with no luck. I am thinking I will either leave them off and deal with the holes or put them back on but put a rubber cover over them so they are not so sharp. Otherwise, it is a good bed for what you pay but a lot of work if you are not good with your hands. see less

She couldn't be happier about going to bed in it - for the first week she had it all we heard about was her "Elmo big girl bed". I think the bed looks even cuter than it does online the colors are bright and vibrant and it is the focal point of her room now. It wasn't the easiest thing to assemble but I put it together myself in about an hour. I like that the bed sits low to the ground and comes with guard rails. Bought this for my 3 year old son and he absolutely loves it. The bed is a little pricey, but it's worth it! He loves climbing up into the bed and also playing underneath the bed. He loves to store a lot of his toys under there. I just bought a twin set and the frame and mattress fit fine in it and it sits high within the frame. We bought this bed for my 2 1/2 year old son. He adores it. It is low enough to the ground that he can get on and off very easily, but it's well supported and high enough that I have no trouble sitting/laying with him on it to read or cuddle. I assembled it alone (with the help of 2 toddlers) and it went together very easily. I feel comfortable with how sturdy it is. A piece came broken and I called the customer service. They immediately shipped me a new piece. They are in Canada so it takes a little bit (7-10 days) but it really was fantastic customer service.
