Growing up I can remember playing with Lincoln Logs and now as an adult I'm happy to see that they are still available. This set comes with 83 pieces including a cowboy and a horse and is great for beginners or to add on to an additional set. My two boys ages 3 and 5 love using their imagination as they build with the logs. They have brought out their other farm animals and enjoy building fences out of the logs to keep their animals protected.
I love seeing my kids play with the same toys that I played with as a child, it brings back wonderful memories. I was happy to see Lincoln Logs are still made out of durable real wood.
I received this product for review. All opinions are my own personal and honest thoughts.
I love laying out all the Lincoln Logs and just letting my kids play together. As a mom there is nothing better then having my kids play together using their imaginations. My kids vary in age as well , 11, 4, 2. It doesn't matter what your age is Lincoln Logs are a tried and true toy that everyone loves. I love that they are still made of wood. They stand up to a young child or a adult foot, yes I've stepped on many logs in my life. They don't stand up very well to the bite of a puppy who loves to chew however :) Just be quicker then the dog and she won't get away with your toy.
As someone who also grew up on Lincoln logs it's nice to know that they really haven't changed over the years. I love that a toy I grew up playing with, is the same toy my kids will grow up playing with.
My 10 year old got this, addition to her friends sets and she put it together herself. I like that it is 2 sets in one.... The rock stage swivels around to a ballerina stage... We didn't even realize that cute guitar too...
My six year old daughter received this set for Christmas. She put it together all by herself and was extremely proud of her efforts. She also loves the finished product and plays with it frequently. It has brought hours of enjoyment to our home.
I have been into Legos for years, and this set by far is the best, with the exception of the Republic Star Destroyer and the Death Star. Definitely worth the money. The set is really big for the price, and the ion cannons on the side have the best flick-missile system ever. I also love that it comes with Count Dooku and Padme, finally!! Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
Out of all the Hobbit sets this was my favourite. It has 5 minifigures and 2 really awesome Wargs.
Minifigures: My favourite minifigure in the Hobbit theme is Thorin Oakenshield who has an extremely detailed torso with his blue fur coat and a belt filled with emeralds and sapphires. He has Kili's hair and his face has a normal expression and one that is yelling. His weapons are a shortsword and ax but I replaced his sword with a chrome greatsword to make it look more like Orcrist. The other dwarf is Bifur who has a detailed rubber hairpiece and beard with the ax piece embedded in his forehead. His weapon is a spear and his head has a smile and an angry expression. The antagonists included are 2 hunter Orcs and Yazneg who has a new armour piece and a bone axe. The hunter Orcs are the same as Mordor Orcs but have hairpieces and different legs. One carries an old sword and the other has a bow and quiver.
The Wargs are extremely detailed and have poseable heads and jaws. They have saddles and removable brick pieces if a minifigure is not using them.
The first part of the set is the rocky outcrop which has a skull and bone hidden beneath it. The outcrop is used by the white Warg as a perch. Next is the catapult which you can attach to the outcrop if you wish and it is used to launch the dwarves into the tree or to shoot rocks at our small heroes. The main part is the tree which can rotate so you can have it however you want. The first part has a gold nugget hidden in the trunk and there are new mushroom pieces on the ground. There are places to put the dwarves and the other play feature is the flame shooter which are used to keep the Wargs at bay. The final part of the set are the flames which can be placed under the tree to "burn" it.
Here is my conclusion:
Pros: No stickers, Thorin, Orcs, Bifur, Wargs, tree, flames, rocky outcrop and catapult.
Cons: No Azog the Defiler and could have included one more Warg.
All in all it is a fantastic set and a must buy.
The minifigures are the main reason I bought this set. The Wargs are so awesome. They can open and close their mouths and move their heads. Thorin's hair has a place for a quiver and I like Bifur's spear. It should come with Azog instead of Yazneg. For some reason the tree can twist and there is gold in the tree. Are the blue things supposed to be fire? The flames shoot way farther then you would think. The rocks are cool because they can be attached or separate. I wouldn't have bought this except that it was on sale. I have this as the main display on my desk.
Great set, OK price.
This set is very good. it comes with five mini figures.
Bifur has the axe piece on his head which is a cool edition
the Wargs can move at the jaw and neck they are my favourite part of the set.
the set has cool play features such as the fire that you can launch off and the tree can move.
over all I think this is a very good set but i would like to see just one more Warg.
great job lego.
this toy is a great toy for you to play with your children. my 2 and 3 year olds love it, but there are small parts so you need not leave them unattended with it. but on the up side the whole family loves to play it together even the grandparents, but it sometimes seems the children make more complex things than the adalts. i do suggest buying multiple because like legos you always need more.
For [$$], I gave my grandson about [$$] worth of logs, which probably cost about [$$] to mill and package at most. Fortunately Target [..]. If there had been a negative number for "value," I would have used it. The box is large and comes with each sized log and roof piece packaged separately inside--lots of plastic. It almost fills the box. After you throw out the packaging, you have fewer than 2 inches of logs in a box over a foot tall and about 9 inches in circumference. Frankly, I was embarrassed to give it to him for his birthday.
My grandson loves blocks, so I hope he'll like this as well, but I'd buy the cheaper pseudo-lincoln logs if I were you. If he likes them well enough, I certainly will in the future. About three times as many logs cost half as much money. This is a rip-off aimed at people like me who remember kids playing with them years ago.
