I love to see Lego star wars jabba sets be released like this.
Luke (jedi knight)
The skiff itself
Go out and buy you one before they go discontinued, its worth it all the way!
Fantastic set. Kithaba is a nice figure. LEGO added some printing to Boba Fett's legs, but otherwise he is just his usual awesome self. Lando is a nice figure with a fantastic helmet design. The only problem I see with the minifigures is that Han Solo is not included. Of course, if he were, then the fight would be uneven, but LEGO could have included a Gamorrean Guard as well. The Sarlacc can actually fit a minifigure in its tongue! The skiff itself has a nice storage area for blasters and just looks pretty cool. I'd say the highlight of this set is the Sarlacc, and I recommend you buy it to compliment Jabba's Sail Barge.
These were originally made of wood many years ago and called "building boys", later the official name became "Billy-Ding Boys" some 60 years ago. They vanished for a while but are back. These are great for building, balancing and teaching little hands how to build. They teach creativity and when the child moves into grade school they are still fun for a while...then forgotten...until they are brought out for visiting children to delight in. You also see high school students working with them in physics! As a physics teacher I brought them to class where they were used to make great problems for students. I recommend them for ages 2-7 and then again for school projects and physics teachers. We still have some that are going on 80 years old. Mike C.
I have been into Legos for years, and this set by far is the best, with the exception of the Republic Star Destroyer and the Death Star. Definitely worth the money. The set is really big for the price, and the ion cannons on the side have the best flick-missile system ever. I also love that it comes with Count Dooku and Padme, finally!! Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
If you could only get one Star Wars ship, this should be it. Whether you're a kid, a collector, a grown-up, or a combination of the three, you're gonna want to swoosh this third version? of the X-Wing around the room. That being said, I always wonder what else the Lego designers would do to a particular model if time and money were not issues. Here are a few of my nitpicks:
1. Orange disks for the engine glow should be replaced with a transparent red or even a dark transparent pink.
2. The white triangular piece at the front of the cockpit (underneath the canopy) should be a dark gray to make the cockpit more cohesive, like a car dash.
3. Not sure about those rubberbands holding the wings together, first time I tried to open the wings I thought the two gears would break, until you break them in you might want to open the wings a little with your fingers to lessen the stress before turning the wheel on back.
4. Did R2 ever have printing on his backside?
5. Not sure about R2 sitting sideways, but that's far from a deal breaker and changing that would increase size and cost.
6. On my build, it appears the back-half of the engines are supporting the X-Wing while on the ground. They're a little loose to start with and another brick or two on the engine bottoms would solve this.
7. Stickers- not bad with this build at all, but a custom piece for the engine fronts would be great(more money) and one dot bricks could be used for wing markings(too bad space won't allow for five or six. . . hence the stickers).
In my opinion, all these nitpicks are minor, with the exception of maybe 6. The mini-figs are exceptional and the helmets are just cool (printing on them just keeps getting better). If you're a Star Wars fan, this is a must have.
Great little set, fun to play with and needed in your collection.
Aside from artoo, all of the figures here are upgraded to give a look more accurate to the films. The sandtroopers now have the markings to show their dirty armor and I like how there pauldrons help differentiate the rank. C-3P0 has been given a great upgrade as well. The figures are must haves for original trilogy fans.
Unlike all the other attempts Lego have made in the past regarding escape pods, finally we get the definitive version of the escape pod. This set marks a major leap in design. It's larger than the ones in the past and is able to accompany a greater passenger load. This escape pod alone makes this set worth the purchase. I also enjoy the speeder bike as well
It's been 11 years since we gotten the last droid escape. You can some iconic figures and a fun escape pod. The price is very fair for what you get. Go ahead, buy it.
A wonderful set, with wonderful minifigures. The minifig assortment is accurate to the movie, and the new Sandtroopers are a must-have. C-3P0 has been successfully redesigned, he now features more detail, and back printing. R2-D2 is one of the fairly new versions, with an entirely silver-molded head and improved printing. Both Sandtroopers have leg and back printing, printed faces, and nicely made backpacks. The Sandtroopers have "dirt" printed on them to look more like the movie characters, something previous versions lacked. They both have shoulder pauldrons, one white and one orange, also with improved printing. The pod itself is sturdy and accurate. Although I don't like the stickers, they give it needed detail. The pod can fit both droids comfortably, and strongly resembles the movie version. It has pegs to keep the top from falling off. The speeder is a nice little accessory that adds significant play value to the set.
New, redesigned R2 and 3PO
Desert Speeder vehicle
Sturdy and accurate pod
This set is something that takes me back to the older sets, and stands out from modern sets due to it's great play/display value, wonderful minifigs, and a great scene not captured by lego in over 10 years (I think, if not somewhere around that), so go and get it now!
It's small but cute! Easy to put together, even with the stickers! My favorite part is the fact that the sandtroopers have PRINTED FACES! FINALLY!! Thank you LEGO!
Also a plus: both droids do fit in the pod, and quite comfortably too.
A perfect addition to my SW collection.
