There are generics of this adapter out there for a lot less money, and they probably work just fine. I've used generic car adapters and power adapters in the past with no problems, but during the madness of the Christmas shopping rush, I didn't bother to see if there was anything cheaper that would do the job. I bought this adapter and it works as expected, allowing connection of my new iPod and iPad to my older accessories. If you prefer buying Apple-branded accessories, despite the higher cost, then you'll be pleased with this item. see less

I bought this 30 pin to Lightning adapter to use all my old adapters that I had from my Ipad 2 to use with my new Ipad 4 Gen. Although it does work for charging, data transfer, and with the old camera kit. It DOES NOT work with video output. In very small writing on the side of the box, it does state this fact. So beware, if your thinking about using this adapter to adapt your old accessories, it has a limited use. For me it came down to [$] toward getting the new Lightning accessories, rather then throwing away [$] to find out it doesn't all conversion of 100 percent of your old stuff. see less

I primarily use this so that I can stream Netflix from my iPad to the TV. It was well worth it. I just hook it up to the HDMI cable, hook up the charger, and plug in my iPad. I haven't had any issues with quality or connection. Now my husband is talking about getting his own so he can watch Netflix while he's traveling. see less
