Bought this device [...] for [$] to replace my Magellan. This device also has a short battery life but I changed the brightness and volume to 60percent to extend the battery life. It shows the surface street speed limit, which I like. It does not make a ding sound, which I like, if I go over the speed limit, it turns the current speed to red. Quick to recalculate if I make a wrong turn. I intentionally went to the private street that does not show in the map and return to the public street, the narrator went out of sync with the current location. A quick refresh of the device to recalculate the location and everything was fine. Some pronunciations of the street names are not very good, so I changed the narrator to the female that does not say the street name. Has a feature that I like the most. If the car is moving while adjusting the GPS, it will give a message on the screen telling that it is dangerous. It is up to operator to ignore it by turning off the safety feature. see less

We never had a GPS and was going on vacation. This thing navigated us around Chicago without a problem and then got us to our ultimate designation. We added extra stops and found interesting points of interest we probalby would never have found. Very happy we purchased it. see less

I recently brought this exact model and I am quiet happy with it. In my opinion Garmin is the top of the line GPS manufacturer. Very easy to use and even first time users will feel very comfortable with it. Instructions are very clear and a very clear display. see less

This was a Christmas gift for the family as we all use it. It works great and I love that it tells when to turn BEFORE you are on top of the turn! Some GPS fail to give the info in a timely manner but this one does! see less

When I bought this online, Target advertised it came with US, Canada and Mexico maps. Found out it only comes with US map. Target has now corrected the online description. Wish it at least include Canada also. This is a decent GPS with slim profile and the right size for ease of carrying around. Although not mentioned online, it does come with micro SD slot allowing memory expansion beyond the onboard 4GB. Tested with a 16GB card. As with my previous TomTom, it can take a few minutes to obtain GPS signal when the unit's battery was all drained, or when the current location is far away from the last location where it's turned off. A GPS fix update is available from My TomTom and it may help improve this. As with my previous TomTom, seems like battery will drain completely if not charged for a while. Map update does take an hours, not due to Internet speed, but the process of updating the device through USB. see less

My TomTom XL335.TM is my second GPS unit and it SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY FIRST!!!!! Value added features such as Live Traffic info, Advanced Lane Guidance and ease of menu navigation have all helped in making my ownership of this unit more rewarding. I also like the user interface for correcting maps. I have recommended this unit to more than one friend already. REALLY like this unit. More importantly my wife likes this unit. see less

I used Garmin for years,then purchased a new one with lifetime maps due to the racket with the old GPS where it costs as much as a new GPS to get an update? The new Garmins would not update easily and on the road I realized that my Garmin had no data?... So out of desperation I found the cheapest TomTom and what a surprise so far I have used it for 2 days and I must say after a little practice this GPS works fine. Even updated it without any problems.The mounting choices are perfect and directions close to perfect.I would recommend this GPS. see less

I have only used it twice since I purchased it. The first time it wanted to take me the long way home... I hadn't set the correct criteria yet. We used it this weekend to go to Napa and Healdsburg. It worked very well and I really liked the alternative routing that it would pick up based on traffic ahead. Worth the price. I would give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. see less

It has good features if only it would work. I got one and was really liking it. Lifetime maps a plus, Then it suddenly stopped working so I returned it. Second one wasn't as good as first. Randomly flashed on and off even after a full charge and updating it. Then it started giving me wrong directions and endlessly driving me in circles. I am returning it for another model. After 2 bad ones this model is too buggy for me. see less

This was a christmas present for my daughter.. She has not had a chance to use it yet but I am sure when she does she will really be able to take advantage of it.. We live in the country and when you go into the city you really need a gps system.. We also own a couple other Garmin Nuvis and think they are the best system out there.. Of course after buying it wouldnt you know I found it alot cheaper elsewhere.. see less

should have a zip code data base. inputting address and/or zip code which you may not know is overly difficult. Since this is my first GPS this may be a problem shared by all GPS. If so the technology needs work. see less

I really love my new Garmin. It is very user friendly and is a great asset when I'm on the road. I am the world's worst when it comes to directions so I really like the way they give me a warning as I get close to the intersection, then tell me exactly where to turn. You can't get lost with a Garmin in the car. see less

I've been very pleased with this GPS. The mapping program works flawlessly and recalculates when I selected a different route as opposed to the one it had selected for me. I especially like the tools side of the unit. It will figure your gas mileage. I had read some reviews elsewhere that had problems and had to reboot the system. I have not experienced this problem even in the Texas heat.I wasn't fond of the updating the process. Athough, I do have an internet connection speed of 128kbs, the upsate wasn't performed any faster on a DSL provider with 1.2mbs. That was my only complaint. I highly recommend this unit! see less
