I guess it's a matter of taste, but unlike other reviewers, I thought this was an excellent alternative to classic Apples to Apples. The double-ended cards were not confusing to us. One end is nouns and the other end is adjectives, so if you've made it past 3rd grade, you really ought to be able to play this game without puzzlement.
The "sour apple" part of the game involves using the apple-spinner to get a punishment if your card was the least-liked by the judge. I thought it was a little silly, and I probably wouldn't use that aspect of the game every time I played, but if you have a large enough group of people, it could be worthwhile. However, I do love the spinner itself, which looks like a green apple. It's adorable.
I played this game at a friend's house and I will be purchasing my own soon. Waiting for a sale because I think it's kind of overpriced.
