I purchased this nightstand for my 3 year-old daughter. I wanted something that was of decent quality and that she could easily use. I was happy with the quality and design, although I thought the price was a little high for what I got. I'm not disappointed in the product, I just wish it was a better deal. My daughter loves it and it is the perfect size for her room.
I'm not sure how the other reviewers put this nightstand together, but I don't think they assembled it 100 percent according to the directions. The furniture is securely held together by a cam lock system and if you don't read the instruction tips on how to use the cam locks properly, then yea...of course it's going to fall apart!
I've put together my fair share of boxed furniture. From cheapy office furniture from [retailer], to ClosetMaid products at Target, and even dressers, bookshelves, and TV consoles from [retailer]. This nightstand is NOT rocket science or a piece of junk, it's great. My 8 year old son can lean on it with nothing happening, and the attempt to wiggle it back and forth or side to side provides no movement or signs or instability. The likely hood of him getting injured because the nightstand fell apart is slim to none, it works perfectly in his room. In fact, I'm going back today to get another nightstand and to purchase the desk from the same collection. I also bought the matching twin size bed that has the head board, foot board, rails, and mattress supports in one box and it's awesome too! They are both packaged extremely well to protect the wood pieces, very sturdy when built, and well designed for the price.
Overall I give the nightstand and the bed 5 stars. I do think the wooden drawer knob on the nightstand makes the style look a bit cheesy, so that's why I only gave that part 4 out of 5 stars. However, that was a super cheap and easy fix...I "dressed it up" by purchasing a [$] satin nickel knob from [retailer] and cut the screw down a bit. Then voila! It looks like I had the furniture delivered to me!
My son's exact words, "I LOVE my new furniture mom! It's VERY cool, and I ain't kidding!"
Assembly advice - You have to point the arrow on the cam to face the hole opening, insert the cam bolt when it tells you to while making sure the cam arrow is still pointing in the correct direction. Then, don't tighten the cam bolt until instructed to do so! Once it's time to tighten the cam, turn it clockwise to the 2 o'clock position. [...] Go back and put it together according to the instructions if you didn't strip the cams.
We had none of the problems described in the other reviews. The instructions were clear and the piece is quite solid. One of the final steps is to put on these small panel clips that screw in to the back- they seem unnecessary but are essential for making the piece stable. Seems like a good bargain to us.
I bought this for my 2 year old daughter when it was [$] in feb. the assembly was simple...took about 2 hours. this bed is sturdy and she loves her bed! its a very pretty bed and I am so happy with it that we waited till it [was $] again to by my son a matching one! the one and only thing that sucks is the twin mattress doesnt seem to fit in there I think it needs a full size mattress. perfect bed!!!
Assembling this was the easy part it took time but no issues. I did end up with one extra small wooden peg, not sure if it was extra or what.
As others have mentioned a twin mattress will be too small. This bed fits a 40.5 by 78 mattress. A twin mattress will be 38 or 39 by 74 or 75. So you'll have an extra inch on each side, and 3 inches extra on top or bottom. A twin XL mattress is 38 or 39 by 80, its too bad the end isnt 2 inches longer then it would be a perfect fit. Think ill get a twin mattress and put extra padding or something on the ends. On the plus side its so long the kids can use it longer as they can grow into it.
This I bought in store [for $], so it was a real bargain. The frame was really easy to put together and feels solid and heavy. It looks great and is really sturdy, even with a toddler bouncing around in it. There is about a 1 to 1.5 inch gap around the standard twin mattress at the edges. It seems bothersome, but once we got the bedding on there it looked great and was no longer an issue.
We did have a few issues with assembly. One post didn't have holes drilled [...]. Also the slats were filthy, we have to clean them before using them.
Overall, this is a great bed for the price I paid. I wouldn't pay full price for it, but it is really a good bed!
Purchased for my granddaughter. Following directions, assembly was fairly easy. A couple of issues. Steps wherein cam was to be inserted but not turned failed to instruct insertion of cam bolt. Also, tube of supplied glue was sufficient to use throughout assembly, but instructed use only in assembly of drawer. Use of glue would make the assembly stronger.
About two hours required.
We bought this so my son could complete his therapy sessions in his bedroom. We followed directions to put the desk together. It was a little tricky, but we were able to get it together. When it was done we went to move it to where we wanted it to sit in the room and the desktop came off the top. We then realized that the legs weren't actually attached ether. The "screws" used to put these pieces together never connected and made it dangerous to even sit at. If a child were to hit the side leg to get out the entire desk would fall over.
This desk looks nice put together in the store, but it is an absolute nightmare to put together. The directions are impossible to understand. In my opinion, it is not worth the money, time, or hassle.
