Do not go by the bad reviews! This is one of the best values you will find for a SINGER sewing machine. It is a good machine, easy to sew with and will go the distance when quilting or making drapes etc. The machine is quality through and through. I also have a BROTHER regular machine and a SINGER SERGER. I use all 3. The SINGER is easier than the BROTHER to thread, both sew well. I sew all day every day. This is a good little machine. This model of a SINGER conventional is perfect for every day use or once in a while. It will always work well. Never let others sew on your machine. Once it is set for your touch it will not work well if others use it. I would loan out my car before I would my SINGER. see less

Was little reluctant to purchase because reviews. I have an old singer that my father bought my mother when she was pregnant with me. That was way over 40 years ago. I am an amiture sewer and know a little from what my mother taught me. This machine is perfect. I am sewing together recycled wool and cashmere sweaters and making blankets. I wasn't sure if it would work because of the thinckness of the material, but it has been amazingly easy. Less frustration then imagined. I did watch a couple tutorials on utube as I was threading the machine and loading the bobbin. This was a big help. The manual was a bit hard to follow when threading machine. It is actually quite similar to my old machine but way lighter!! This machine has been well worth the [$] and a trip to Target. Only thing I would change would be the reverse switch would be easier if it could be locked into place and you didn't have to hold down with finger. Thanx for reading... see less

I was a little aprehensive due to the price of the machine, but it went on sale and I figured I couldn't go wrong. It has turned out to be a great sewing machine! I read reviews and did what some suggested...sewed for a little while on a scrap piece of material to get the oils moving...threaded the bobbin correctly and read a little about it. I LOVE the sewing machine. I have made my grand daughter's nursery decor with it. I hope she likes it. see less

I feel I know my way around sewing machines, new and old- or I can figure it out pretty quick. I was warned by my mom not to get a drop in bobbin,due to the trouble with tension adjustment. I hate when she's right! I couldn't get the tension adjusted properly to sew anything. There is only one tension knob to operate the top and the bottom thread. I work with this machine, read the directions, looked up possible mistakes I might be making- nothing worked. However, I was very happy with the overall quality and function of the machine, but thread tension is everything. Could have been just this one machine. In the end I had to return it. see less

What a miracle! Easy setup. Cleans better than other regular washers I have had. LIke other people said, I had no idea such products existed. What depression I have experience over laundry in past. Cured the moment I started using this machine. That is why I call it a miracle. I live in 450 sf apt. Complex has 1 washer and 1 dryer for 50 units at 2 dollars a load. Uhg! It runs very quiet except for spin cycle but that is brief. Although instructions don't say, I used plummer's teflon tape when connecting the water hose to the machine. First try there was leakage but tape fixed that. I have used for several month and several loads a week. I still can't believe how great this machine is. Very strong and sturdy. see less

After reading page after page of reviews about this product I got brave and decided that I had been convinced to give it a try. First I would like to tell you that I live in a downstairs apartment. I was worried about the noise disturbing my neighbors but that was never a problem at all. After living here for three years I got so tired of gong back and forth to the laundry here at our apartments. So I started looking for a good deal on a small apartment sized washing machine. When I originally came across this brand I was a little hesitant about ordering it because I had never heard of it until I found a great deal on-line for this particular model. I read many many reviews before I finally decided to buy one. I absolutely love this little washing machine. I can wash about 1/2 the size load that I wash at the laundry in this little machine which really surprised me at first. I also loved that I am a single 49 year old lady who is not technically or mechanically inclined at all and i had very little trouble getting my machine out of the box and following step by step instructions regarding first time set up and use. Also had bought a roll around stand to put my machine on which I ended up returning because my machine had castors (roll around wheels) included.with it. In some of the reviews that I read the castors were either not available or left out of the model that those people had reviewed but they were included with mine. Now I just need to fine me mini dryer and I will be all set. I do take my towels out to the laundry and dry them but I am only out there 1/2 the time as I was before. I hang up my good clothes that I would ordinarily hang up anyway. My space is very limited in my apartment but I do have a small pantry closet in my kitchen. I purchased an over-the-door rack for my can goods, I park my washer in there and cover it with a sheet. Since the apartments where I live pays our water bill we are not supposed to have washers or dishwashers. But so far no one has questioned me about it so just maybe I am getting by with it. I love my little washing machine and it was well worth what I paid for it! I would buy another one any time if I needed another one.I have had my machine well over a year now. My old iron started leaking so I decided to try a cordless iron. I wasn't sure about how it keeps hot, but as you constantly pick up and put the iron down anyway, you just set it on the base on the end of the ironing board and it stays nice and hot. The 1500 watt is plenty warm. I also LOVE that the water container comes off the iron so you can take it to the sink and fill it. I store it in the case after letting it dry thoroughly. It is lightweight but heavy enough to get the wrinkles out. It makes plenty of steam. I like the stainless soleplate as the nonstick coatings usually get scratched and aren't smooth anymore. Right out of the box, this machine was easy to use. Threading the machine and bobbin is so super easy. The drop in bobbin is a HUGE plus. The fact that is comes with a "case" -its just a cover you slide over the top, but it works! was also a nice feature. For someone that "knows what they're doing" yet at the same time still has no clue, I am VERY happy with this machine. I've heard complaints about the light not being bright enough, but I don't find this an issue at all. I tend to keep the overhead lights on when I sew, so... yeah, not a big deal. I've hemmed jeans and made some purses, and hemmed a couple skirts and dress slacks, etc.. and its worked perfect. Ad far as how loud it is, I think its actually pretty quiet. It does chug when you sew through multiple layers of demin, but what machine wouldn't? I love this machine and am VERY happy this is the one I went with. see less

My previous iron was an Oreck iron which I LOVED, but after 10 yrs, it needed to be replaced. My Mom originally bought me a Hamilton Beach Durathon Iron to replace the Oreck but it leaked everywhere and was so light it wouldn't iron one wrinkle out of my shirt without some serious effort on my part, and even then, not really. I eventually went out and got this iron instead. This iron is awesome...works great and super easy to use. So glad I found this iron on line! I had been looking everywhere in stores and couldn't find one. I have one - they just never seem to wear out - but I wanted one for my mother. It's luxuriously heavy so that makes it effective, but it glides effortlessly and makes ironing a breeze. No leaking, no sputtering. Use this iron and you'll laugh at the price and promises of all those new fangled lightweights that require a manual to figure out how to use them. With this iron you only need old school intuition. Wow, this is one of the very best irons I have ever owned! I always thought one needed to weigh a ton to do a good job but this beauty!! It's fairly lightweight and does a better job than any of the heavy irons I've owned in the past. It has so many options and offers just the right settings for the type fabric you're working with, it's nearly fool proof! You really can't mess up if you take a moment to adjust the settings for your fabric. I suggest you start with the lower temperatures and work your way up that way you don't have to wait for it to cool down and it heats up very quickly. With the added choices of steam or spray you'll get crisp clean creases and wrinkle free cloths,etc every time. I highly recommend this iron! see less

My old iron died and I have to say I never realized how bad my old iron was until I used this new one. This is the first time in 8 years that I've ironed without putting more wrinkles in my clothes. I LOVED the fact that the steam was constant while pressing my clothes, it made the wrinkles disappear before my eyes.The iron was also very easy to operate and glided across my clothes with ease; it almost felt as if the iron was doing all the work, what a pleasure! I now have a new fondness for ironing and I can't wait to go home tonight and iron the laundry that has been in the dryer since Sunday. I have two tiny negatives though, like the reviewers before me, the retractable cord is difficult to operate, however this is my second iron with a retractable cord and I think they are all the same. It still beats wrapping the cord around the iron and having to hold the cord while I dump the water from the iron. After a couple of tugs on the cord, the cord is completely retracted, WELL worth the hassle. The other negative is that the turn dial for the steam setting is a little cheap. I can see it not working properly after a few years, but for the $... bucks I spent on the iron, it really doesn't matter. Even if it lasts 3 years; at $.. and change a year it's definitely worth it. see less

With only one review but a very positive one, I decided to purchase this after my Hamilton Beach iron (of 3 years) lit on fire inside.What I love about this:-The steam comes out seldomly but never drips water, and because it doesn't over produce the steam like many other irons, I don't have to keep refilling it every 10 minutes.-It has a good amount of weight to it so even on a low setting it will still get the wrinkles out.-I love all the safety features for when the iron is about to shut off, and just a quick ironing movement and it starts heating back up again! It's great!The only thing that doesn't work on it is the cord reel. It retracts but not that well so I have to feed it into it a little but it's nothing to worry about nor return it for. see less

When I found this machine, I looked at many. I have always owned a Singer, looked at different machines. I liked this one right away, but was hesitant after reading some of the reviews. I am glad that I came back to this one. I have had it for several months and I use it about three times a week and it has never given me one second of trouble. It is easy to use, and I love the added features. It glides effortlessly over several layers and one very lightweight layer of fabric. I bought this to replace an older Singer. The automatic needle threader is very helpful, as my eyesight is not as good as it used to be. I love the ease of changing stitches and the amount of different stitches available. I haven't used all the attachments yet, but look forward to that. The only con I could think of is that the foot pedal slides, but that is not a big deal. I bought this [...]. Great deal! After reading a plethora of reviews, I nervously ordered this machine. I was weary about buying over the internet that I couldn't play with, inspect, etc as on occasion reviews have revealed broken machines, missing items but I figured I would take a chance. This machine is GREAT! I recommend taking the time to read the instruction manual, look over the machine and learn the different bits and bobs. There are SO many neat features. It is a smooth, quiet, surprising heavy animal that IS easy to use and the computerized buttons require a little common sense, but the manual helps. I DID have a wee tangle after my 3 curtain panel but it was a quick fix and I continued on my merry way. I am beyond thrilled and am now planning on tackling pillows. Definitely read the manual, it IS a computerized machine, so it takes getting used to, but absolutely worth the price! see less

Because my experience with Singer machines has been extremely good, I knew I wanted another one. Over the years I have misplaced alot of the attachments and with retirement and free time looming, this was to be a gift for myself. I did lots of research online and all of the reviews of this machine fit the bill for what I wanted -an economical, no nonsense machine with a few perks to make my sewing more enjoyable. This is what this machine has delivered for me. It was very easy to use first time out - a few differences in threading (all better) and I really like the see through bobbin cover. I haven't tried all of the special foot attachments yet, but the ones I have tried are great and pretty easy to figure out. I like the small footprint of the machine and don't really mind not having the hard cover - much lighter to move around so I don't think I'll order one as I had originally planned. I may just sew a dust cover myself. I did test alot of the different stitches and they looked just great - can't wait to use them on a real project. I'm in the middle of making a renaissance gown using heavy satin fabric and the fabric glides nicely with no slipping. That's the pro's of the machine - the con's are few, but I wish the foot pedal was heavier as it moves around some. I taped a small piece of that stuff you put under rugs to keep them from moving and that has helped some. FYI - I am a somewhat rusty, medium to advanced sewer and this machine fits my needs nicely at this time. Perhaps if I really get into sewing for profit, I may upgrade again, but have no plans to do so at this time. see less

The item details in the online description indicate that the material is metal. Actually, the legs are metal but the top is "Fibertech". I'm unsure of the quality and durability of this new material. I was replacing an old all metal board that had lasted me decades until someone damaged it in a move when they slammed a car door on it. I love the long ironing surface, as I do sewing and quilting projects in addition to ironing many long garments. The adjustable height is great, as is the light weight. Although it appears a bit flimsy, it stands up well to my big cat jumping on and off as he occasionally uses it as a perch. Price is great if the Fibertech top lasts. I've emailed the manufacturer inquiring about its expected longevity. The cover is flimsy and not washable, but I can easily make a sturdy, washable one. see less

I was hesitant to purchase this steamer, based on the other reviews, but I have no regrets as it works great. I went to the store and was able to compare this steamer to the others. The components on this steamer seemed much sturdier. The clothing hanger is metal and strong. I have had it for over 2 months and I use it about 1 to 2 times per week. I use it mainly for freshening my dry-clean-only clothes, which saves times between professional cleanings. It is also great for softening and smoothing clothes that I've air-dried. I don't like the crease-press feature, so I continue to use my iron for items wit creases. I do recommend this item. see less

I bought this from the store and tried it as soon as I got home. I had bought a wedding dress online which arrived so wrinkled it looked like someone crumpled it up in a ball to store it. This steamer got all the wrinkles out very easily. The fabric of my wedding dress is silk and lace with beading (layers and layers of it), so it was pretty heavy. This steamer worked right through all the layers with ease and did not harm the fabric in any way. I LOVE IT! Just purchased this iron. I misread the price and thought I was paying double, figuring if I spent more, I'd get more. I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for." This is an excellent iron. Heavier than I thought it would be but it glides smoothly across the fabric, so weight is not a problem. No leaks. Heats up quickly. Is truly the best iron I've owned. Makes the job so much easier when you have the right tools. It's unfortunate that a couple of other folks have written badly about this iron. Perhaps there is a quality control issue or they actually got a different iron than the one they are writing about. At any rate, I'm quite pleased with my purchase. see less

I was nervous using this steamer for the first time on an expensive suit but it turned out perfect! The lint attachment removes pet fur well. The vertical press pad allows garments to hang naturally and the velcro pins help secure them in place, it also provides enough resistance to smooth deep wrinkles- much easier than shaping clothes on a flat ironing board. It's perfect for non-iron shirt touch ups. Melting silk is a worry of the past, this is a must have for iron impaired individuals like myself. I'm a huge fan of button-down cotton shirts. Unfortunately, I had a bunch of them piling up in my closet because I couldn't iron them well, so decided to try steaming. I tried two different floor models, but found them drippy and cumbersome. Then I tried a competing handheld, but it had low power, also dripped and the water reservoir was too small. After researching, I bought this model. It's a handheld, which is good for storage, and it has this neat ironing mat which you put on a door to use as a backdrop to your steaming. In addition to my shirts, I have used this to freshen my comforter and curtains, as well as on my freshly sewn garments. Though it doesn't replace an iron for seamwork, it does a great job on a finished product. This steamer has enough power to get hot enough to disinfect and freshen if that is what you need. So far, it has been a truly good product and in fact, the only steamer I've ever bought that I kept! see less

I just bought this iron yesterday, so I can't speak for it's longevity, but so far I'm really happy with it. I initially bought a cheap [...] "Quick n Easy" iron, and it was horrible! I took it back the same day and picked up this one. I can't say it's as awesome as my old [...] that broke, but for the price, it's great so far. It's easy to fill, gets good and hot and puts out a lot of steam. I like that it has the auto shut-off, and the retractable cord is a nice feature that you don't find in a lot of irons in this price range. I will say the retractable cord isn't super smooth, you sometimes have to give it a little push, but it does store the cord out of the way,which is the main point. As a bonus, I also loved that it was purple! Overall, I think it's great for the price. see less

I've owned the Haier 1.5 washer for over a year now. In a tiny apartment, I needed something less that 24" wide to fit the opening for a washer. Not only does the Haier fit beautifully, it washes above expectation for such a small machine. Whether it's just my daily clothes, a load of towels, or a small blanket that's been packed away for years, everything comes out clean and fresh. My Haier HLP140E dryer sits above it, also working beautifully, and I appreciate those controls on the bottom - I can reach them without getting on a stool. I was a little concerned before I bought the washer, from all the reviews saying everything come out in a knot. Yes, some clothes get tangled, but no more so than for full-size washers; just in a little different way, because there's no agitator. see less

It's a great steamer for little touchups, but more engrained wrinkles such as wrinkles in a cotton shirt or linen pants may be too much for this steamer. I decided to purchase this model because the overall reviews were really positive, more so than other similarly priced models. Because it's my first time owning a sewing machine I felt I needed something that would provide enough variety in stitches without over complicating the simple things I wanted to make. I received the machine yesterday, and after my children had gone to bed I set to work, in the space of 5 hrs I'd read the really easy to follow instructions, set-up the machine, made a template, pinned the material together stitched it and stuffed it. The machine is pretty quiet. When thread from my material got stuck I just undid the door to the front loading bobbin and undid some part behind the bobbin and it all fitted back in really easily after I removed the tangled thread. The stitches look great on the material too. Thumbs up for this machine!! see less

I bought this machine after carefully reading the reviews. After setting it up, I did a few practice stitches and I had the same exact problem other reviewers did. The bobbin thread was jamming with a ton of thread almost immediately every time I started. After re-inserting the bobbin several times, I realized I was inserting it wrong and that you have to put the little lever facing up so it locks into place where it sits. I will say the manual doesn't do a great job with that explanation. After that, no more jamming. Then I had another problem with the bobbin thread stitching very loose and clumpy. I tinkered around and realized the bobbin thread wasn't threaded correctly in the bobbin case. Again, the picture wasn't great, but I figured it out. Both problems were EXACTLY the same as what other reviewers said, but BOTH were user error and once I corrected the problems, the machine runs beautifully and the stitches are perfect. see less

I checked the settings and it turned out the operator was broken hot the iron. When you separate the steamer from the base it is very light weight and easy to use. As a single guy who hates ironing, I LOVE this iron. It has a pump to make the steam output steady & forceful, making for quick work of even the most deep, set wrinkles. No exaggeration here, this is one cool feature & it works! There is also a button to give you short bursts of more steam. There isn't a water sprayer, you don't need it. This iron makes quick work of this seemingly endless, thankless chore. The iron separates into two parts, the base & the steamer. VERY slick. Because of the pump, the steam comes out steadily & with unexpected force. If you tend to pull clothes flat while ironing & your hand is too close, you can get burned by the steam. You won't get injured, just annoyed by steam hitting you until you learn the new habit of grasping clothes farther from the iron. You will go through water quickly. Keep a pitcher of water close. Nothing about this unit feels or seems cheap. I own other Sunbeam products & have no complaints. see less

Seems to be adequately constructed. I like the bamboo which is essentially why I purchased it. The "thick pad" is anything but. It seems like there is no pad. The rubber pads to hold the hot iron concern me. Perhaps they would not melt under heat but I wouldn't want to risk ruining my iron. I e-mail Target to inquire about this but have not heard back. The price seems a little high. No significant complaints but nothing impressive. Of course it's an ironing board so how impressive can it be? LOL see less

learning to operate was tricky and a bit frustrating, although when i think back learning how to iron... not my fondest of moments. I lack much finesse, so I try to avoid things that can burn me as often as possible, although living in the adult world, one must know how to wear clean, unwrinkled clothing!! this is perfect for the things that you just cant iron without damaging or really little things like my four month infants dress clothes!!! LIFESAVER!!!! Although some other items cant ever be done right without old fashioned starch and a iron. I guess it depends on the wardrobe you have. see less

I've not had any of the problems some of these other reviewers have talked about. I thought it would be harder because it was a computerized but so far have not had any problems at all. I like mine and I'm glad I didn't read the negative reviews. Read the directions and watch the dvd that comes with this sewing machine. When you get that error message, just turn it off and turn it back on. It is different than a manual machine, but I don't regret buying this particular singer sewing model. Works great!! see less

I recently purchased this sewing machine and am so far very pleased with it. I do sew quite often, and took to this with ease. I did not experience any of the issues that I read from the reviews, but I am sure everyone's experience with this will be different based on the level of experience and care in usage, etc. This is obviously not an industrial strength sewing machine, but in my opinion lives up to my standards for what I need it for - mostly for making my little ones dresses. i just started sewing and i love it. i gave it a 4 instead of 5 because it is a little difficult to raise and lower the height and it sometimes slides down if you dont tighten it really tight. i thought the mannequin would be the same size as i am and its is slightly bigger in width in some areas and xs would have been perfect, but the fact i can change the size in lots of areas it gives me options o make clothes for my friends. the price it very very reasonable. for the price it is soo worth it. good product. see less

My old iron broke and I was in desperate need of a new one. I never realized how often I use and iron until I didn't have a working one anymore and had to search high and low in my closet for non-wrinkled work clothes! I found this one online and the first thing that drew me was the price and the fact that it has the auto-shutoff feature.... I get super paranoid every time I leave my apt thinking that I forgot to turn off my iron and I would be responsible if my building caught on fire. I needed something inexpensive (because I'm broke!) but reliable. The price and the auto-shutoff feature, in addition to the brand sold me, so bought it. It's really "cute" and so far works perfectly fine. The only thing I wish it would have had was the setting for certain materials (cotton, linen, silk, etc)...but for the price, who cares?! The settings are low, medium and high, but in the instructions it does tell you at which setting to iron certain materials. All in all, so far so good. It's getting the job done and I'm no longer paranoid when I leave my apt because if by chance I do forget to shut it off, it does it on it's own! :) see less

Had this iron for over two years before it finally gave out from everyday use. I'm going to get another one today! Yeah, it's made in China and I usually go out of my way to buy products made in the USA, not easy to do, but this product out-performed other irons we have bought over the years. I've seen a lot more expensive irons with many bad reviews too. Apparently, people don't understand irons use heat and steam, two things detrimental to any electrical device, so if it lasts a year for [$] consider it a good investment. see less

I use this sewing machine for everything from making clothing, making sturdy wallets and clutches, quilts, and almost anything in between. It's perfect! The extended table makes it so easy for larger projects and the fact that you can take off a section of the table to make sewing things like sleeves and pants a breeze! The decorative embellishments are also amazing. There have been a few reviews stating that you need to take it into a shop to be oiled... but the fact is that it shouldn't even need oiling. If it does then it comes with a little brush and oil just in case, even then the bobbin area comes apart very easily with no tools needed so self maintenance is a breeze, again when necessary which I don't foresee having to do any maintenance aside from checking it anytime my family and I move. I've had this machine for a few months and let me tell you that it's worth every penny. see less

I get so much done so much faster and I love the sleeve attachment for seams and sleeves and shoulder yolks. The board itself is VERY stable and seems to be well constructed. I am very please as a quilter I iron constantly as do most people who sew in addition to regular "no iron" ironing clothing. As a senior, this board is easy to set up and take down and to move around. Am going to order some covers for this board as it will be an important part of equipment for many years to come.
