Originally we wanted to put some of the many picture frames we have but it didn't quite work out, so instead we used it for some books, candles, and small Mr & Mrs frame. For the price, the quality of the shelves is okay. However, the drywall anchors provided did not hold the shelf. Luckily, I had sturdier ones left over from a different project, and those seem to work okay. I just now finished the installation, so I'm still waiting to see if it'll hold weight without falling. The installation hardware basically screws into the wall and there are two stick-like tubes that go into the shelf to hold it--I'm not sure if they're long enough to hold the shelf to the extent where several pounds would be held or not. I suggest only getting these shelves if you aren't putting them on drywall or aren't holding much weight. see less

The original picture that target had for this item, the item looked espresso color, and I was pretty certain that the cite said that as well. When I received the item they were completely and totally BLACK. It was not what I expected, but I know how Target's online return policy is, and I didn't want to pay for shipping to return them. Not happy about the purchase, but they are only shelves! I'll get passed it in time. The shelves themselves are nice enough, a little short on the depth though. see less

We had a little difficulty installing them in part because it was our first try at this sort of thing. One plastic anchor broke off in the wall and that was a hassle to get it out. We drilled larger pilot holes from then on. Also, with the 24 inch shelves we wanted to put screws at each end into the wall studs as suggested in the instructions but they only send one wood screw per shelf. I had to make an extra trip out to buy more screws. Seems like they could throw in a little more mounting hardware. We also had a problem with our wall being bowed and so one shelf would not hook onto the wall mount as easily as the others. After some practice, we were able to put up a shelf in less than 10 minutes and we are pleased with the look of the end result though it took several attempts to buy shelves that matched in color. As long as we don't try to have them support something heavy, expect to be pleased with them over the long run. see less

Because this is a "floating" shelf, it is a little hard to install...but I bought 2 of the 24" shelves for my son's room to display trophies and sports stuff, they look great in his room and i don't notice any type of problem with them...just hard to install see less

I am a machinist and very mechanically inclined. Loved the looks of this shelf. Installed it correctly first try. Very flimsy and disappointing. Does not "click or lock in". Says 18 lb capacity. I would say 5 is a gamble. Shelf sags due to imprecise mating method between the wall bracket and shelf bracket. Aluminum also thin and flexible. Tips-make sure you install wall side bracket correctly. And tighten so it stays flat. Dont overtighten some screws. That affects final fit. Works for what i bought it for. see less

Installation is easy, so long as you throw out the hard plastic wall anchors that come with the shelves. Go buy some soft rubber anchors that fit the screws. These type of anchors require a much smaller hole and you just tap them in with a hammer. They will hold a good amount of weight. see less

These wall shelves were the perfect and final touch that my living room needed. They were very easy to mount, I rated 4 stars because they are very easily scratched but it's nothing that a brown/black marker can't fix. see less

The shelves themselves are really cute, but installing them is almost impossible. They come with really cheap plastic wall mounts that leave giant holes in the wall, and they're very difficult to screw in as they keep bending or breaking in half. I love the shelves but had to return them. see less

Luckily I bought two of these sets so I had the extra screws from one to use with the other. I now have multiple broken wall anchors in my wall. The heads would snap right off with the body still in the wall. This happened using a hand screwdriver. The screws for mounting to a stud are horrible. After drilling a pilot hole... instructions say to just screw directly into the stud with a hand screwdriver without drilling a pilot hole... the screw snapped in half. Luckily the screw broke off under the drywall level so it is not sticking out. The second screw I tried to screw into the stud had the head strip before the screw was all the way in. Had to use pliers to get it in the rest of the way. I would have used other screws and anchors that I already have but the screw heads are smaller than average. End result - The shelves look great, but will not buy this brand again specifically because of the hardware. see less

New house now has damaged drywall due to the inferior hardware included with this poorly constructed shelf. Shelf so flimsy we removed it to return but the screws stripped out. Can't believe Target would sell such an inferior product. [...] see less

Horrible installation and shelf will not stay in the bracket when you add any weight. It fell right off of the wall scraping our newly painted walls and scraping up the shelf to the point that it is now unreturnable! So frustrated and disappointed! Terrible purchase! see less

I ordered the 48 inch shelf online because its not offered in the store. The smaller one is offered in the store and the quality seemed to be good. I paid [$] if you include shipping. Just received it today and its plastic. The core feels like styrofoam. The packing paperwork calls it PVC. The website says its MDF. Pretty big difference if you ask me. This is going right back to the store. see less

I was so excited to find these shelves online in dark brown. My local Target store only had them in black. When they came I was so excited to put them up that night. I sketched out the design I wanted them hung then layed them on the floor and tweeked it a little bit. I measured the distance between the shelves so I would know where exactly where I wanted it (I even took a picture to use as a reference while hanging them) I realize this may take more time than some are willing to take, but I got the design I wanted and hanging it up was a breeze! I am very pleased with the product and I am considering buying another set for our bedroom. see less

I absolutely love these shelves! They look great! I had my dad hang them for me since I read all the other reviews and was afraid to have 1524 holes in the wall. He put them up effortlessly and they hang perfectly straight and even. They hold the amount of weight described easily. I have had no problems with them at all! A great price too! see less

This is a great deal for all four shelves. I was afraid that the color would not be as dark as I wanted but they go great with the rest of my espresso color furniture. My hubby still has not hung them so I cannot comment on the difficulty of hanging them. Another concern of mine was the depth of the wood and I was worried that the bottom of my frames would not show since they are not flat but it is very minute. Overall great price for great shelving! see less

When I got this [...] everyone was checking out how cool it is. In perfect condition, and nice rich dark wood- blends with my black photo frames, etc. [...] buy two if you are trying to fit large Red Wine glasses in here- it only fits 4 if they are large. Six regular white wine glasses fit perfectly and save lots of cabinet space! Overall this is Fabulous and looks expensive and custom! This is an awesome, addition to my kitchen! I have it under the cabinet in my kitchen, next to my 4 bottle wine refrigerater. It looks very chic! I have gray walls and I put black, stemware that I ordered from Target on the rack. Next to the black, wine frig, it looks very, cool and very, sophisticated.So worth it! see less

Okay people. First...do not use hardware included. Use snapskru...purple bag at lowes...the smaller thinner screw ones. DO NOT super tighten into wall. If you make too tight...it will never hang. The brackets need to be able to interlock...so making them too tight against the wall prohibits that ...screw till it stops...but do not keep screwing. They should be tight...but not to the point where the brackets begins to invert towards the wall. After you have done those steps...you are golden. You will now have a stylish and pretty stable shelf. I don't recommend a toddler sitting on it...or more than 15 distributed pounds...but this thing will definitely hold a fan, picture frames, alarms clocks, etc. lightweight items. Think outside the supplied hardware and this will work. see less

I bought this at the store & came home to read the reviews before installing. YIKES! There are some pretty bad reviews. I almost returned it, but after looking for other options to buy or build, I decided i should take it out of the box and look at it. It looks a lot like other floating shelves out ther, including ones people are building. I decided to try it. I wanted my shelf to sit in a corner so it took some thinking to see how many studs I could use. I could almost use 2 studs, but if I tried to use both, my shelf would have to sit away from the corner by about 1/2 inch. So, I used 1 stud and 2 drywall anchors to hold it up. Once I got the bracket screwed in, it was time to hook on the shelf. Low and behold, it went on! Now if you push on the front of the shelf it does bounce a little but I'm not putting a ton of weight on this shelf. So, I think it has gotten a bad rap. I say give it a try. Worst case, you have to remove the bracket from your wall and patch the holes. see less

They are pretty flimsy and even though it says it can hold 16 pounds, I wouldn't dare try it. We bought these shelves because they were a great deal as compared to buying shelves individually. We have been very happy with them and have had no issues at all. My husband never uses the wall anchors included with anything and this was no exception. Maybe this is why we have had no issues. We put them up with very inexpensive metal anchors that you can purchase seperately. We have several heavy items on there and they stay in place perfectly. So pleased I am ordering more!! see less

I read the negative reviews and decided to purchase the shelves regardless. My husband installed them quickly. I will say he is somewhat handy. He used the materials supplied. He had no trouble at all with the install. The shelves really look great and are sturdy for my purpose, but I am not testing their limits. They hang tight against the wall. I provide this review after having bought, installed and returned different brand of shelves from a large hardware store which were practically falling off the wall. I am VERY happy with these shelves from Target and would buy them again! see less

I have had these shelves installed for over 6 months now with absolutely no problems. I have a variety of items on them from candles to pictures. Installation was a breeze, but I am a tradesman and have a good understanding on how fasteners work. If the supplied fasteners fail while installing because of the learning curve during the installation, you can always find the fasteners at a local hardware store. The shelves really add a nice accent to my living room and I am back for some more. see less
