Most reviewers have said they used it for their entryway, but I've actually used this for my mud room. I had been looking for a while for something wide enough that wasn't cheesy and didn't cost a fortune. After looking in several high end stores I saw this online and took a chance.....boy was I delighted with the end result! It was like the vision in my head translated to the room. High end style well worth the much cheaper price. The back is hidden being up against the wall, but really, who looks at the back anyway? I personally like the cushions, but I can always change them whenever I want. We plan on putting black skid resistant matting under the baskets to take care of any potential scratches some of the previous reviewers mentioned. Bottom line, this is a winner across the board!!!!! see less

I read the reviews before purchasing and have to agree with nearly all of them. This is a great piece of furniture for the price and is just as nice as the [$] one from "the other store." Plus, this one comes with what I think are attractive and sturdy baskets and even cushions. To be honest, the fabric on the cushions is cheap and tacky, but I plan to recover them or maybe remove them altogether. Assembly was quick and easy. In fact, it took longer for me to get the pieces out of the box than it did to actually assemble them! A quick note though, I covered the bottom edges of the baskets with felt using hot glue to protect the bottom of the shelves from getting scratched. We'll have to see how this works out long-term. see less

I ordered this for my entryway. It looks very stylish and modern. The wood was sturdy, and I was able to put this together by myself. I recommend using a drill for the board in the back of the bench, otherwise a screwdriver is all that is needed for installation. The manufacturers do provide you one. I also plan to recover the pads with a different fabric, which looks like it will be easy to do. I'm very pleased with this bench. see less

I love it. My husband loves it. We put it together in an hour. Quite sturdy. Aired the baskets out overnight in the garage. The 3 cushions are hard, smelly and a strange color. I am ordering a one piece cushion from that other high priced store. This was a fabulous deal and it was on sale, plus free shipping. I recommend this bench. see less

I needed a simple storage bench for an exercise room. Saw this in an upscale catalog for twice the price. Version at Target seemed to be pretty much the same plus included the baskets and cushions. Pretty basic stuff, typical painted particle board but looks good. It was easy to assemble by myself, directions were clear, no special tools needed (just a philips screwdriver), no problems fitting together. Painted all white (no dirty looking antique finish as some other reviewers noted), baskets were good quality, I plan to replace the cushions with a solid bench cushion. I left the decorative scalloped edges under the seat off and it fits our decor a little better... We have more of a contemporary style. My husband put it together in about 20 minutes or so with the "help" of our 2-year-old. Not difficult at all. We've been using it daily for about 3 months and it's holding up very well. I ordered this online and expected it be to functional and look nice in my entryway - which is open to the living room - as a place where people could sit to remove winter boots and for extra seating for parties. The picture does not do it justice! It comes fully assembled, very well packed and is so much more substantial than I expected. The seagrass is thick and glossy and the seat seems to be padded. It's titled as a bottom-of-the-bed bench, but is just perfect for an entry as well. I am very, very happy! see less

I purchased this hall tree thinking from the pictures that it was a dark brown, like all of their espresso items. I even looked at the picture and the color swatch picture shows the color as being dark brown. However, the color of this hall tree is medium brown. Make sure you look at the "collection" picture that shows two hall trees, a bench, and another piece of furniture all lined up. This is the true color of the hall tree. Other than that I am extremeley happy with the hall tree, but I wouldn't have ordered it if I had known it was a lot lighter than pictured and after spending [$] on shipping, who wants to have something shipped back?? see less

We actually bought this bench to use as a shelving unit below my daughter's window. It went together easily, and is a very nice piece of furniture. As a note - the "regular" sized canvas bins you can buy (for the cube storage) do not fit on this - they are too tall. But other baskets fit fine! This piece fits in very well with the expensive furniture pieces in the room. A very nice piece of furniture! see less

I purchased this bench to use im my laundry room to help keep it organized and in a "workable" state. It will be a great drop-in spot for shoes as the kids come in the house. It is also just the right size and not too bulky. It is solid enough that my 6'5 husband can sit on it; and that is very impressive considering it took ME a minimal amount of time to assemble it. I didn't even need any help from my husband. The walnut finish looks great too. I would recommend this bench if your space is limited like mine. One piece had slight defect in corner of wood but once put together it was not noticeable and not considered damaged in shipping. This is wood and so you can see all the details of the wood. The color is walnut dark brown color. Even though it says it requires two people to assemble - it was quite easy to put together by one person in about 15 minutes or so. Bought this to put in garage to store shoes and a place where my kids can sit and put on their shoes. Option to buy cubby cubes to put on the lower shelf if desired. Option to choose which level to put the middle shelf, on upper one third or lower one third. It seems sturdy enough, but I can wobble it a little bit when moving it side to side even though all the hex screws are strongly tightened. Also need Philips screwdriver to put together. see less

We bought two of these and could not be happier. I think that the picture online is true to the actual product. They seem very sturdy. I think that they are a great value and with my target card, I didn't have to pay shipping which saved me 140 dollars! I was considering a couple other brands' mudroom cabinets, but when I added in shipping a surcharges they were at least 3 times the price. I love that if you are planning on purchasing more than one that the outside if flat so when put next to each other it is flush. The assembly took about an 1.5 hours for each one. see less

We bought this for our daughter and her husband for Christmas. It arrived only a few days after I ordered it. My husband and I unpacked it and had it together in under an hour. A power drill is handy for the last step, when you attatch the back onto the chest. The cushions and baskets look white in the picture, but were beige when it arrived. I love the beige! I was worried white would get dirty quickly. Beige won't show the dirt near as much. This is a good looking piece of furniture for the price. My daughter is going to love it! I would definitely recommend this to a friend. see less

I ordered this bench after searching all over stores and the internet for a wooden bench with storage. The shipment arrived quickly in very sturdy packaging. I was able to assemble it in a 1/2 hour by myself. I think the instructions were more than adequate and not vague at all, they just don't have many words but instead use diagrams. The wood still had the smell of stain and, when it was done, felt like a much more expensive piece of furniture. The style of bench is very attractive and the quality of the leather is very good. However, it comes unassembled which would not be a problem if the screws which are needed to assemble the product were delivered along with the bench. I received the bench with no screws to assemble the legs and the seat. So I ended up having to take the legs of the bench to the hardware store to buy the appropriate screws to put the bench together. Overall, although this product is nice, it is not worth the trouble of what one has to go through to put it together. see less

Loved the look of this bench. Also, it is distributed by a co. close to me, so I was happy to give a local guy business. Put the 1st bench together and all the bolts were too long to properly secure the legs to the bench (someone will sit on it and the legs should be firmly attached). One of the bolts was not aligned w/ the leg, so I couldn't even attach it. So, I figured I would put the second one together, just in case there was only one defective bench. Same issue w/ the second bench. Save yourself the time of putting this together, taking it apart, calling target for shipping refunds, packing it up and returning to the store. see less

I love this bench. I thought the top of it would be hinged but it lifts off completely. Nice sized storage area-the entire skirted portion. My only complaint is that the box pleat in the skirt only has a small strip of fabric behind it and if it moves out of place, the black box frame shows, not that big of a deal.
