We've had this lamp for about a year and a half and still love it! My husband is very picky about lamps, but this one made the cut! It's tall enough, one problem we were having when looking for a good floor lamp, and it's sturdy. It also looks very nice. It gives a good warm light, and still works with a regular bulb if we run out of the 3-way bulbs. We usually use this to light up our living room rather than our overhead light. It's great! see less

I had read over reviews of this lamp and how nice it was. I decided to buy one for my living room. It was so nice that we decided to buy one more for the living room to accent the first one. The quality of the lamp is good and it looks exactly like what I expected. It was easy to assemble. I put in the highest wattage light bulb allowed so that it would quickly brighten up the entire room. Highly recommend this lamp. see less

For the price, this is a really nice lamp. The wood looks like good quality. I spent money on more expensive bookshelves and a dining table, and didn't want to spend additional money right away. I figured I would buy a nicer lamp a year or so down the road. I was worried it wood look out of place, but it doesn't, and I'm still using it now 2 years later. I also came back to the site and purchased two of the smaller table lamps to match. The light quality is very good. It lets you use a 150W bulb which is nice and bright. The shade softens the light quality without sacrificing brightness. The shelves are handy. I keep decorations on the bottom two and leave the top one free for placing a cup or snack, or novel/kindle. They're not large enough for a laptop. Since a few reviewers complained the pull-chain is flimsy and has broken, leaving the lamp useless, I have it connected to my wall switch and only use that to turn it on and off. see less

I bought this because I was sick of the big bulky table that was previously next to my bed. It was easy to put together, and as I recall it didn't need any tools, but maybe a screwdriver. The three shelves are great for a basket to hold your things. I put a heavier basket on the bottom to make the lamp more stable, because it is lightweight. I seek "deals" in general, and would have preferred to only have paid around [$] total for the lamp. The style is great though. see less

I really love the contemporary look of this lamp. Fashionable and modern while still being timeless and classy. The only negative I have is that the bronze is very dark, almost black with gold accents. I would have liked a little lighter brown. Ordered this lamp to replace my main "reading" lamp in family room. Description indicates 3 way switch, 150 watt max bulb, which is what I had and needed for that area. Was originally going to buy 2, one for each end of sofa, but decided to purchase only one first to make sure I liked it. Glad I did, as it is NOT a 3 way switch, and it only takes a 100 watt max bulb! Like the lamp, and will probably not return it, as I can use it elsewhere in my home, but not for the intended purpose. Otherwise, it would go right back to the store. see less

I love everything about this lamp. I see that several people have complained about the push switch on the floor, but that is one of the things that I really like. This lamp is in fact a dark brown/rust rather than black. I love that the shade is textured, it reminds me of burlap. This lamp, simply put, will be one of your best purchases from Target.I read all the negative reviews and realized one thing was missing from them...COMMON SENSE!This lamp fits in perfectly with my sage-brown walls and the lighting is phenomenal. Assembly was easy and quick. But, if you have trouble with screwing parts together, take your time doing it. That way it will stand straight.The shade is just paper so BE CAREFUL of the wattage you use. I have converted most of our lamps to CFL's. I suggest using no higher than 60w equivalents. This will provide EXACTLY what the lamp was intended to do; give warm, inviting indirect light. This will also prevent any smoking and/or burning smells as described in previous "intelligence reports"(remember, this is NOT a $lamp).If you're looking for a nice, modestly price lamp that will give you an added boost to your living room/bedroom/anyroom, this is it.If you're looking for a 5 million watt output from a $ lamp and flawless craftsmanship, you will be disappointed.GREAT LAMP!!! see less

Putting it together was "OK", I had a bit of a thredding issue but, with some muscle was able to power through it. Plugged the thing in and it didn't light a thing. Very dim. Changed the bulb thinking maybe that was the issue. Nope. To make a long story short, after my husband painted the inside white to help it reflect light it is tolerable. I bought this lamp 6 years ago. I loved it when I got it and still love it today. In fact I'm planning to buy a second one! The lamp shade did come with a small chip in the bottom of the shade, but isn't visable when the shade is in place and the 3 way switch stopped working, but I don't have a 3 way bulb in it, so I don't need that functionality. We have purchased two of these lamps in the past four years. It is truly a beautiful lamp. When I originally purchased this lamp the reviews stated that it was solid and sturdy and impossible to tip over. Today my 19 month old daughter grabbed the stem of the lamp tipping the entire lamp over. When the lamp hit the floor the glass shade shattered everywhere. Our daughter is lucky to be alive thanks to her guardian angel. My husband and I have just spent the past several hours cleaning up shards of glass off of our living room floor. I would never recommend this lamp to parents of small children. see less

I bought this lamp because of the simple style for a swing arm lamp. It has a heavy base so it won't tip over, easy to assemble and looks great. It probably is closer to black than bronze, but the rib style on the piping is nice. I bought a new shade to match another in the room, but the one that comes with it is OK. Someone mentioned they broke the harp when trying to straighten it. Mine needed a little straightening so I took the harp off the lamp first. Now it is fine. The harp is a cup style harp and is readily available on line, although you might have to buy brass and paint it. Or I am sure a store that sells only lights would have one. For the price this is a good lamp. see less

They tell you to screw on the shade screw as the last step to putting it together and I don't have one. So basically my shade is just sitting where the lightbulb is. I ordered two of these lamps for my bedroom to go on either side of my bed and I absolutely love them! They have a high-quality, high-end, retro appeal that can easily fit into a contemporary or a traditional setting. What you see is what you get - the picture does give an accurate depiction of the product. The wood is a rich, dark walnut and the base has a contemporary brushed nickel appearance. The shade is a sand color with a nice weave texture. This lamp is tall and the shade is rather large so please condiser the scale of your space when making this purchase. This is no wimpy floor lamp that you can just put anywhere. It commands attention and it requires ample space. The assembly was simple - I did not refer to the instructions once. The hardest part was getting the lamp out of the packaging as it was meticulously packed. The shade does come in halves so be prepared to assemble it. I just bought this lamp at a Target store, though it didn't come with the CFL bulbs (but was on sale for less than shown on the website at the moment.) This is one TALL lamp, almost 7', which I didn't notice before buying it. It has two bulb sockets and a top rating of 300w total, so could be used to flood a good-sized room, but I found that it illuminates my entire bedroom brightly with just one 40w and one 75w bulb. The rotary switch has a low and high setting, but instead of alternating between the bulbs, it actually just lights them both at once, to a dimmer or brighter wattage (without needing 3-way bulbs). So between the height and the high-or-low setting, it is able to provide subtle light or completely brighten the entire room, as thoroughly as any overhead light could do.Assembly was very easy, and the bushings between the segments are threaded on both ends so that they are less likely to break off, a common problem with most assemble-it-yourself lamps of this type. The only issue I had is that it arrived with the bushings already screwed into the bottom of each segment (so you screw that into the top of the next segment) and one of them was mis-threaded enough that it took me an extra 10 minutes to figure out why it wouldn't assemble straight, re-thread it, and then put the next segment on. Other than that, it was a cinch to finish and is a bit more stable than many torchieres because the pole is larger, providing extra stability, as well as the dual-threading allowing for a tighter and more secure fit.This is definitely the nicest lamp I've ever gotten from Target, though I tend to stay in the under-$100 range.I am very pleased with the purchase, and this lamp nicely complements my desktop lamp with mica shade, which cost quite a bit more. see less
