The plastic shroud makes it a little harder to work with, although it does feel good in the hand.
Bought one a year ago, same brand/packaging, and it works well. Bought one a month ago, 2/2012, and it is total junk. The blades are somehow wrong and it causes VERY sharp nails after clipping them. I didn't think you could mess up nail clippers, esp. ones that seem to have been fine brand before, so I don't have the packaging to return it.
Its pretty strong, which is great because my nails are tough. And having the grip is pretty nice.
However, the black "nail catcher" blocks your field of vision, making it really hard to see what you're cutting. I always end up with jagged nails and end up filing more than I ever had to for any other nail clipper...
