I really liked this umbrella overall, it was a perfect set up for our patio but the knob that locked it into place snapped off after 2 months use. I am returning it as the umbrella swings around with any small gust of wind.
I hate to write a negative review, but... THIS UMBRELLA IS A PIECE OF GARBAGE!!! I bought it in march, assembled it in may, used it a few times and now it doesn't work. It "jammed" up and my husband had to practically take it apart to get it to close. We thought it was fixed but just now I went out to the patio to relax, opened it up and the slightest wind jammed it up again and now it won't close! I am furious!!!
i purchase tis item summer of 2012, really love it but had to exchange it because the cable attached to the ball located on top of umbrella snap from inside and would not allow umbrella to stay open.
unfortunately this summer i experience the same thing.Again the cable snap. leaving me unable to enjoy my deck..
I don't know why people would pay hundreds for a patio umbrella.
This one works just fine and does its job - blocks the sun and creates shade by the pool.
No rips or tears and cracnk mechanism works just fine.
It's an umbrella, so by definition it should not allow one to get wet underneath it. I set this up yesterday and experienced the first rain, light to medium strength, this morning for about 30 minutes. This model allows diffused water to penetrate and soaks the underside umbrella frame and the table and items below. Not happy at all. I guess they didn't bother to add water resistance to the olefin fabric during manufacture.
Otherwise it seems like a decent, sturdy product for the money, but when it simply doesn't meet it's first and foremost requirement, I wouldn't recommend it at all. I intend to return it.
