My experience has been this thing is AMAZING at retaining heat. I brewed two large coffee presses of coffee one evening, put the coffee in the carafe and put it in the refrigerator. (This was to make iced coffee.) In the morning I poured some coffee and it was STILL WARM! Not hot, but lukewarm. I was totally shocked. That is after 10 hours in a 40-degree refrigerator. see less

I purchested this item 12/16 and conducted an experiment to see how this carafe retained heat.As per instructions, I filled it with boiling water to preheat the carafe. After waiting 8 minutes I poured out the Catalina carafe and poured in a full pot of brewed beverage from the coffee pot.The tempature of the carafe at that point was 180 degrees.After two hours the temp of the crafe was 167 degrees.After 5 additional hours,the temperature of the carafe was 128 degrees.It lost about 7 degrees an hour. This Catalina carafe exceeded my expetations in heat retention. see less

I wanted a pitcher that would like nice but store well. Most pitchers with lids are kind of ugly, made for storage only, not to look nice on a table. This one does both. I have to say, I was a little disappointed. The lid is not deep enough to cover the whole opening, so it isn't as sealed as I would like in the fridge, but overall much better than one with no lid. The lid is a little difficult to get on and off, but it will probably become easier with use. There is one this I didn't expect. This is a three quart pitcher. Most I have seen are two quart. This means the pitcher is very tall, at least an inch taller than a gallon of milk. Luckily, our top shelf on our refrigerator can be moved to be taller than the rest, so we were able to store it there. It doesn't really fit in the door even. I do like this pitcher a lot though, and it's very sturdy. see less

I bought this as a gift for my parents for Christmas, and they LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!!!! I can't believe how much they enjoy such an inexpensive gift!!!! They said, "it makes this cheap $7 bottle of wine taste like a $50 bottle!!" I would recommend this gift to any wine lover! At first glance this looks little more than a glass bubble but it is intended to aerate the wine as it is being poured. It takes the place of letting wine breathe in a decanter. Simply attach the decanter to the top of the wine bottle like you would a cork and pour the wine as you normally would. It gives the wine a nice airy taste. It comes with a hanging holder...think a glass ornament holder...that looks nice on a bar. This prevents it from being stashed in a drawer where it could break. It is a little delicate but I wasn't afraid to use it. At the good price point, it is a nice gift for the wine enthusiast or as a hostess gift because it isn't something you might just buy for yourself. My husband really liked it as one of his Christmas gifts. see less

We received this decanter as a housewarming gift. It was kept in the china hutch until we took it out to use it. Not sure if it was knocked or hit something but it was chipped with a DEEP crack and splinter all down the neck. We can't even recall anything touching it. We washed it before so I know it wasn't cracked when we got it. The glass feels very flimsy, nothing like the regular Riedel glasses I have used before. Very disappointed. see less

I expected this to be a full size pitcher. I guess I didn't look too closely at the size specifications. When it arrived, I was a little disapointed at how small it was. However, we have been using it every day since. It fits about 3/4 a blender full of smoothies and is perfect for 2 maybe 3 people. It won't serve more than that though. It is a beautiful pitcher. It's easy to pour and the shape fits nicely in the fridge. Even though it wasn't exactly what I expected, I am very, very pleased with the purchase. see less

I put this pitcher on my wedding registry because it looked pretty. It is even prettier in person! It's larger than what I expected and I don't have a problem with that. The glass lid has a rubber lining so it sits firmly on the pitcher. I've been using this pitcher to store fresh lemon juice because none of my other pitchers seals quite as nicely as this one. And because it doesn't have a handle, it doesn't take much space in the fridge. Overall, a good buy. It's a very classy piece. see less

This may have been shortsighted as they almost started a riot which could have ended with the place burned down. Since she drinks a couple of pots of java a day, I bought my wife this carafe to get her through. She raves over the coffee still being hot at the end of the day, and there's just enough to get her home in the commute. This is a great product that matches my kitchen perfectly! The size is perfect for keeping tea or juice in throughout the day or for a nice breakfast in the morning. It can be a bit heavy when it is full, but that is okay. It has a solid handle that is connected very well to the pitcher. My husband and I registered for this pitcher for our wedding, to match the glasses. We were so excited when we received this as a gift! Unfortunately, when we went to pour it, most of it spilled all over the counter! I tried holding it at different angles or it closer to the cup, but it still managed to make a mess. It's really beautiful--it's hard to tell from the photo, but it has a bubble pattern like the matching glasses (which we have and love). Ours will make a pretty centerpiece, I suppose. I hope we just got a messed up one and that they aren't all like that. If you decide to order one, keep your receipt, just in case. see less

We got this piece for our wedding along with the red wine glasses. It is a very elegant decanter. One night, we had my dad and his girlfriend over. They had just returned from Paris and they said that the decanter really reminded them of their trip! Also, you can put any type of wine in the glass, i.e. cheap boxed wine, and your guests will never know it -- actually, your guests will exclaim at how good the wine is! see less

I did not like this carafe at all. Unfortunately you can not return it if it is used, but you don't know how lousy it is until you try it. The lid goes on and off extremely hard. Hot beverages register the temperature but don't stay hot for long. Once the temp starts dropping it drops quickly. I would not recommend this to anyone and I think the store policy should allow for returns when the product fails to perform. see less

This item is NOT dishwasher safe. I bought it because i was the only carafe that said it was, but when I opened the package the instructions clearly state it is NOT. It has a nice wide opening so you can see the color of the coffee and know how much milk is too much. But that does not offset the incorrect descriptions. see less

There is only 1 thing about the pitcher that I find fault with. I can't get my hand in the opening to wash it. This isn't enough of a problem, though, to affect my rating of 5 stars. The pitcher is solid but not heavy, holds a full 2 quarts, and is easy to pick up. And it's glass, which is the best thing. I remove the rubber stopper when pouring, otherwise it pours too slowly. Available at other vendors but a real value at Target. see less

I have had 3 of these for a month now. One is for Iced Tea, another for OJ, another for water. I have an 8 and 11 yo, and so far, no accidents even though this does not have a handle -the only down-side if you have kids... Stuff tastes better to me when it's not in plastic. This glass pitcher cleans easily and does not absorb odors or flavors. It goes on the bottom shelf of the dishwasher. It is the ONLY glass pitcher I can find in town that has a lid. I can pour hot tea into it with no worries of plastic melting or becoming soft...and wondering how much plastic is leeching into the tea. [..............] These are more attractive and keep liquids colder for longer than plastic. Plastic is a petroleum product... see less
