I was looking to purchase a small, inexpensive, everyday-use rice cooker and went through some customer reviews on another online site in search for this kind of rice cooker. I decided to go with this one. Luckily, I found out that Target stores carry them so I went ahead and got it from my nearest local Target.
I've used it once and so far I'm very happy with it. The rice came out perfectly cooked as I expected it to be from a rice cooker.
We owned a rice cooker that we absolutely loved. We used it so much that we wore it out. I felt it was time to buy a new one. the old rice cooker yielded 4 cups of cooked rice and we wanted to get one that was bigger so we could cook more rice at one time. I chose this rice cooker because it yields 6 cups of rice, had a reasonable price, and was made by Oster, a brand that we have used many times for kitchen appliances. When I opened it I was stunned to find that the inner pot for the new rice cooker looked significantly smaller than the old one. I read the directions for the new cooker and discovered that it does not use standard US cups which are 8 ounces. The "cup" that this cooker uses is only 5.33 ounces. I did not hesitate to buy this rice cooker because of the Oster brand. However, I feel that this deception is deplorable. I am packing it up and taking it back to the store. I can't imagine trusting the Oster brand again.
My son received this in record time and found it useful for many things. He makes pasta in it and uses the steamer insert for a strainer. Spanish rice can be made right in the unit. Altho it was larger than he would have needed, because the price was better than the smaller ones, he is very happy with the size for the other uses. He can make a large batch of rice and use leftover rice to make rice pudding right in the cooker.Great deal and great piece of kitchen equiipment.
i bought this rice cooker at the store, and it's on sale. plus tax, it's [$]. very good deal!
i am a Taiwanese, so i knew very much about how to use a rice cooker. this one is good for steaming fish, egg, and also good for cooking rice.
i love it comes with the top basket which allows me to steam Chinese buns for breakfast.
i believe this cooker can serve up to a 5-people-family.
a friendly reminder--
i saw many American people cook rice without washing the rice first. that is wrong. wash you rice twice before cooking, and sit the rice in the pot for 5-10 minutes after the button switch off.
very nice rice cooker. if you know how to cook rice properly, i recommend it. i am very happy about it! it also looks very cute.
