My daughter received this toy very young about 6 months old and played with it till she was probably two. The goats face is no logner there chewed off -and just for that I keep him for sentimental value- tehe. We went out and bought my 2nd daughter the same puzzle because we had such a great experience with my first daughter loving this puzzle. My son has enjoyed playing with this puzzle from the time he was 6 months until now when he is 16 months. At first he just like the animals, then he loved to take them off the board, now he likes to put them on the board and do the puzzle. It gets a lot of us in our house! see less

Even though it says it isn't for kids until 12 months - my son started playing with it around 6 months. He loves to take the pieces out and play with the animals. Now at 13 months, he is starting to learn how to put the pieces back. Very good buy and very entertaining for the young ones. I gave it a 4 on quality because the paint is starting to come off on the corners of the pieces. But it has been a sturdy toy for all the times my son as thrown the pieces across the room. see less

My daughter got this puzzle for her first birthday and loves it! The knobs are very easy for her to take the pieces out of the puzzle. She likes the pieces so much that she even crawls around the room holding onto one! She will even sit for several minutes with me while I tell her the name of each animal and make the sounds. This puzzle will also grow with her. As she gets older I can have her identify the animals, and she will also be able to put the puzzle pieces back into the puzzle as she develops. Very nice artwork - so much cuter than most puzzles out there. The puzzle is solid wood and is not covered by a paper print that can just peel off. Only thing I discovered - better to play on floor than on a stool or couch, etc. The puzzle is heavy and if dropped on a childs food or hand it can really hurt. Heck - the backboard part dropped on my foot hurt! see less

I bought this puzzle for my daughter when she was 18mths old. She loves playing with it. The knobs make it easy for her to hold and to fit the pieces in. The matching pictures on the puzzle also helps her recognize which piece goes where. Overall a very educational and enjoyable toy. see less

I can not believe how different this game is from the one I played when I was a child where you flipped the cards down. The doors kept closing on their own while I was trying to play the game with my child. I would not recommend this version of the game, but the original flip down game is a lot of fun!! see less

These were the first puzzles I bought my son. He immediately loved them. We also have a transportation puzzle too by Melissa & Doug that is great. I would highly recommend them.I agree with the other reviewer. Sometimes if the pieces are loose and not in place they will randomly go off at night when we are turning off the lights to go to bed. It is so funny... we jump and then laugh at the random animal sounds.I leave these on my son's toddler table and he will go to them numerous times a day. see less

My son loved these puzzles. He loved the sounds and all. My son is very bright. These puzzles helped to supplement my teachings. One of son's teachers once commented jokingly, when talking with another teacher about my son's recognition of animals and their sounds, "[he] knows what sound an aardvark makes." Great educational tool that is also fun. see less

haha - we love these, but they are light activated and when the pieces are not put on we get very scary animal sounds in the middle of night when we get ready to go to bed and any time a light is turned off. It's pretty hilarious to see us jump at it - very durable, very fun, we love this! see less

My almost 2 & half year loves puzzles. She loves this puzzle! I know its a little pricey but its well worth it. Everytime she puts a number in the puzzle it will tell her what number it is. It's not loud and annoying for parents:) My daugher did scrath off the number 10 on the puzzle she was biting on it. But other than that its been great when I baby sit the older kids still like to play with it. see less

My brother introduced this toy to our family, and it's really a good choice if an individual-type toy is desired, but without fancy technology or batteries. My son likes it, and he's 11. I enjoy it immensely, and I'm 41. It's leveled and there are "cheat cards" that can help you if you need it, but the satisfaction from solving the puzzle makes them unnecessary! I highly recommend this puzzle. It is very sturdy and can withstand actual play from many kids. All of the kids who play at our house eventually find this puzzle. My kids--ages 6 and 4--still enjoy it a year later. Preschool and young grade teachers would likely appreciate this in their classrooms, as well. It is large enough for multiple kids to play/work together, and as I said, it is sturdy enough to handle it. My daughter loves science, and I am so pleased with this purchase! see less

This just came today & my 5 y/o son LOVES it. He's put it together & taken it apart a dozen times, & has asked me to tell him all that I know about "these bones". I pointed to a part on the puzzle & then pointed to the same spot on his body & showed him how the joints move, etc. He's fascinated by this puzzle and has thanked me over and over again for giving it to him. see less

We love all of the wooden Melissa & Doug puzzles and we have a lot of them. Great sized pieces for little hands with bright colors and easy to store as well. Would recommend for all children; great to keep those little hands and minds busy! see less

I bought this puzzle set last year when my son turned 3 trying to get him to practice his spatial skills and the fact that he LOVES firetrucks and police cars. The best thing about this set is that there are four puzzles in each box which can be confusing, but each puzzle has its own shape stamped on the back. So you know all the diamonds go to the firetruck puzzle..etc. It takes my son no time to complete these puzzles, and because they're made of wood, they are very durable. The wood storage box is a real bonus. No more trying to keep the puzzles organized in the closet by stacking them one on top of the other... see less
