My 5 yr old son was so excited when he saw this in the store! And unlike some other toys, he liked it even more when it was set up for play! And finally, no fighting about having to take a bath! He not only wants to take baths, he doesn't want them to end! So far the toy seems pretty durable. There is enough going on such as multiple tracks, some traps, to keep him entertained for a while. Also, the toy floats really well.
We have another Hot Wheels bath toy that suctions on to the wall but that doesn't do as much- with that toy, 2 cars go down a ramp and fall in the water. That one was fine when he was younger, but this new one is a much better toy for his age.
Grandpa bought this as a gift, we couldn't believe the sale price! Great deal!
Note, toy is unassembled- there are only a few steps for putting it together. Only took me a few minutes. No tools needed for assembly.
My grandson got this as a Christmas gift and it functioned properly for about 15 minutes and then started failing. The electrical contact between the car and track is based on a flimsy metal brush on the car that immediately curled up and prevented contact with the track. Those flimsy brushes soon broke off both cars making the set unusable. Awful design. Don't waste your money!
My wife bought this for our family of four. Our two daughters, ages 7 and 8, have enjoyed countless hours of racing fun. They are big Nintendo fans and this is their first racecar set. My wife and I both had slot car sets growing up and thought our girls would also like this toy. This is a great first slot car set for beginners. The track does not work that well on carpet with the trestles that elevate the track. We have configured the track three other ways so far besides the figure eight track as shown on the box.
I wanted a small race track and my kids love the Mario Brothers. I didn't expect much for [$] however the quality is worth more like [$]. The track comes with white "fencing" which is ridiculously hard to get on and once you get it all on it falls off. Secondly it comes with "stands" for elevation so that the cars can pass under the track which are the most un-sturdy pieces of plastic I've ever seen. It literally took me about 2 hours to get this thing up and running. The kids like it ok but if you have a child that is rough with toys at all then don't even bother. This toy is poorly, poorly built. Extremely cheap and hard to put together.
Wow - so first off... I am not a hack or shill reviewer. We've had the Hot Wheels Criss-Cross Crash for nearly 3 years for my special needs son and it's great, but it takes up a very large footprint, is quite cumbersome to move plus the double-sided supercharger wore down batteries fast.
Not the case w/ this Figure 8 set - took us less than 10 minutes to set up, stickers and all - and was easily transportable after assembly - a Hot Wheels rarity. This set comes with not just one fast race car, but an additional FIVE MORE race cars, so you get SIX CARS total! GREAT VALUE! The play is actually better and more consistent than Criss-Cross Crash, my previous fave out of dozens of sets over the last two decades w/ my kids.
My youngest son's disability makes it hard for him to operate some sets, not the case w/ THIS set, as the cars rarely deraii. Works best on a playmat or carpet for stability. He plays for extended periods of enjoyment with this set. Highly recommend. Thanks, Target!
