I own a Schwinn Tourist as well, which is more of a performance hybrid, but it isn't as smooth as this Schwinn Elite bike. The appearance of this bike caught my attention immediately the first time I saw this bike on the department store floor. I came back looking at it weekly for 2 months, then when it went on sale I bought it! This bike rides good for people 5' 10 or taller. I'm 6 feet and this bike fits me perfectly. Not fast as a drop bar road bike, but fast enough for fun. I've rode it up to 31 mph. It shifts gears very smoothly. I've owned this bike for week and have rode it for 50 miles. Overall, seems to be a well built bike.
So, my wife and I were looking to upgrade our [...] mountain bikes we bought in 2008, both are very heavy and falling apart daily. We had been to the Trek & Specialized dealership in our area and we're thinking we had to prepare ourselves for spending 600-1000 dollars to get a decent bike. Tonight my wife suggested we go to Target and check out there bikes, I was highly doubtful that there would be a bike there I would like and buy. Packed up the wife and kids and drove down to the Target in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. So I spotted the bike and was immediately in love with how it looked and very impressed with how light it was. So we got the bikes home, wrenched on all the important bolts just to make sure and put some air in the tires. Got my headlamps for my son and I and started riding. Rode 6 miles with my son and couldn't believe how fast and smooth it rode. I guess time will tell if I made a good buy, as in if I have to replace pieces do to Schwinn using cheap parts but for right now, love this bike !!!! So smooth ! Great bike !
