Love this crockpot, but I broke my stoneware twice (don't put it on high heat when warming up something dry, like burritos wrapped in tinfoil - gets too hot and cracks). Both the main pro and con about this machine is that it gets very hot. Pro - you can cook food more quickly than most other slow cookers. Con - you can break the stoneware (see above) and scorch your food if you don't watch it closely. see less

We went for the 7 qt. if I'm going to cook I want to make a lot of good food. We're so glad to have purchased this product. First thing I did was to heat water on "low setting" and learn the temps than I shut it off, let it cool down, then went to the "high setting." Last week I cooked a 6 lb. beef pot roast, carrots, potatoes, etc. following the enclosed suggestions. Ran it for 5-6 hours...came out awesome and soooo tender. Got 5-stars for that. New Years Eve, we did a 13 lb. turkey. I took the skin off, carved the breast off, separated the sections and laid it in the pot with all the seasons....was awesome...parts fell from the bones....another 5-stars. This is my first slow cooker than isn't a hand me down. My old one would burn the bottom of meats, so I was scared that was just a drawback of slow cookers in general. Boy was I wrong! I bought this one because I liked the digital timer. I sometimes forget to look at the clock when start cooking something, so this helps tell me how much longer I have. I've used it twice and it doesn't come close to burning the meat or veggies, only makes the meat tender and the veggies come out PERFECT. I am in love with this one. Also, to those that have mentioned it, it says in the user manual DO NOT lock the lid while cooking, that feature is only for travel. see less

Cook Country tested various brand name crockpots and the digital series of CROCKPOT was recommended. I use my crockpot to mainly cook sauerkraut at a low 8hr setting. and it cooks the kraut to melt n your mouth. My crockpot allows 4 automatic time settings. So if you have the desire to some serious cooking I would checkout other CROCKPOT's digital models. There are at least four other models with digital settings. If you have the desire to cook sauerkraut I recommend to first rinse the kraut in cold water to get the salt taste out of it. I then blend my with frozen pineapple chunks and juice. both are good for the indigestion. see less

I had to open the box to learn the wattage is 100 watts. This means I can use this crock pot with a small inverter as I drive down the road. It is only 15 watts more than my computer. Could either prepare a meal and let it simmer while driving or heat some soup and have it ready when I arrive at a rest stop. I prefer to eat small snacks often throughout the day so this would allow me to "nibble" and keep my food warm. see less

I've tried other brands and they just don't have the same quality that the "Real" crock-pot has. The stone cookware makes all the difference and the heating is consistant with settings. Low actually means low... it's amazing how many other brands say "Low" setting but seem just as hot and "Hight" setting and cook the meat either to fast or way to slow. My last "Crock-Pot" lasted 12 years + and I was so sad to see it go. I'm looking forward to 12 years + with my new one. Thank you Crock-pot. see less

I got mine about a year ago and I use it all the time. For Mexican night I put velveeta and rotel in one, refried beans in another and ground beef in the third. I don't pre-heat the cheese dip or beans because this gets plenty warm enough. I put them in and let them heat while I cook the beef on the stove. This is not a cooker just a warmer. I also put the dipping spoons in the little cups. The cups are removable for washing. Mine also came with a mesh attachment for travel and the cord is retractable. see less

I purchased one of these on clearance last year and have loved it so much I bought a second one. They're so convenient and frees up the stove. One roaster will hold about 100 servings of mashed potatoes. I've cooked 22 pound birds in it and and just recently cooked 23-24 pound bone-in hams in them. In response to the person who said it "smoked", of course it did. New appliances that are machined need to be washed in warm soapy water prior to use to wash off the machining oils. Or, add a little water to the pan and put it in the garage or outside on medium heat for a couple hours until it stops smoking then clean in warm soapy water. I put mine directly under the kitchen fan until the smoke stopped then washed in warm soapy water. The only drawback is the feet are short. Hubby replaced the feet on both with sturdier ones and raised it up an inch or so to prevent heating the surface underneath. see less

This amazing little device is just that - AMAZING. It warms whatever I bring thoroughly, from pasta to Pad Thai to baked potato soup. I just pack the inside crock the night before, load it up in the a.m., snap the lid on and head for the office. At the office, I plug it in until I'm ready to eat - anywhere from 1130 to 2. IT IS AMAZING. I cannot stress that enough. Obviously, you can't cook in it, though. This is for reheating only. I didn't know that when I asked for it for Christmas, but I don't even care that it doesn't cook. My food is perfectly hot, not dried out, and not cold in the middle, like when you microwave. Oh, and bonus, microwaves kill nutritional value, so "they" say, so this totally circumvents the necessity of the microwave. Also, the crock isn't that big. Like, it's not small, but it's not huge. What a great addition to my kitchen. I have a smaller slow cooker, but this size is perfect for so many recipes. I tried out my favorite Chicken Pot Pie recipe and just made biscuits on the side to have with it. Awesome! Cleanup was a breeze, too. I must say, this is the first 'Slow Cooker' that I've ever used. I've always used crock pots because my parents had used them. I am so very pleased with this product! I can't compare it to other slow cookers on the market, but I can say that this product has saved me so much time. I prepare the food in the morning, let it cook throughout the day while I do my other daily tasks, and Voila! Ready at dinner time! So far I have made BBQ Pulled Pork for sandwiches, Chicken and Dumplings, and Chili with the help of this slow cooker. The size is wonderful! 6 quarts is large enough for me to feed my family of 4 ,3 boys, and possibly more. The insert comes out for easy cleaning and is dishwasher safe! I also love the simplicity of the settings, Low-Medium-High. Every meal has cooked very evenly without issue. So simple to use and lovely to look at as well. I can't say enough about this item. I don't do much cooking. So I love the Ninja! It is so easy to clean, probably the best part. And things are easy to prepare. The stovetop setting seems to take a little while to heat up when I browned 2lbs of hamburger, so that much meat may be faster on a burner with a bigger surface. And I am not very good at searing meat without burning it after switching to oven and baking, but I have that problem with a regular oven too. The stove top setting does seem to work like a burner where the center is still the hottest part. There is an default timer that shuts it off if you don't set the timer, which came in handy for me. You don't have to use multiple pots or burners on the stove, and a smaller oven uses less energy. Spaghetti is a family favorite, because it's easy, and even more so now that we have a Ninja that cuts cooking and cleanup time! see less

I own a lot of slow cookers. I have the old timey ones with just the off, low,medium and high. I have the digital ones. I even have one with a temperture probe through lid to read temperature of the meat. I have a crock pot for every purpose. I have to admit I am in love with this one. If you're ever cooked a roast or chicken or anything that could benefit from being browned or "seared" then you can't do that in a "regular" crockpot. You must brown on stove and then add to crockpot. I don't know about you but I don't want to mess up a lot of dishes that's one of the reasons I use a crockpot. You can turn this bad boy on and brown your meat and/or stir fry your onions and bell peppers and then turn the dial the other direction and and cook for however many hours you like. Now my chicken, pork chops, etc. all have a nicely brown sear on them and they cook up nicely. Yes it is a little pricier that most crockpot but it was worth it to me!! see less

We got this for a wedding present two years ago. We use it all the time, it doesn't heat up the kitchen like the oven does. Also good for small kids because there's not a hot oven on. This thing is fool proof and will do a monster turkey too. About the inserts They come with inserts from time to time in store only, I've never seen it offered online. I entertain at our house all the time and have never used them, they're a set of three inserts, big enough to hold maybe 16 ounces each. I guess it would be useful if you were doing a nacho bar, but for veggies sides, just use a bowl because these aren't big enough. The inside comes out for easy cleaning, really the best present we got from our registry. Enjoy see less

It sits on my desk at work and I use it all the time through the cold months for lunches (soups, chilis, burritos (filling in the crock, add to tortillas), leftovers, etc). Basically, anything you could heat up in a microwave can be put in the lunch crock. And it's always heated thoroughly and doesn't taste like it's been nuked like microwave food does. I find soups only need about 1-2 hours to fully heat up. I always have to turn it off when I get ready to eat the food because it keeps everything so hot. Only one "complaint" - wish it had an on/off switch so I don't have to crawl under my desk at work to plug it in and unplug it all the time. Otherwise, great product and I love it! I've bought a few more for friends and family. The lunch crocks are the perfect size and the handle makes it easy to carry if you want to take the entire unit back and forth. This is a stylish crock pot that I got as a set, with a stainless steel lil' dipper, for Christmas three years ago. The easy to use digital controls and setting adjustment that automatically goes to warm when the cycle is completed, makes dinners and enterainment a snap. The black ceramic cooking dish allows for oven use if needed, and has turned out to be useful on several occasions. The only complaint I have is the cheap plastic lid handle. I have had to replace it about 3 times and I've probably paid for the cost of the crock pot in full just with the replacement pieces. This last time, I ended up going to the hardware store and buying a cabinet handle instead of the real thing and that's worked out well. Overall, I have been very happy with the product and would buy this model again if I need a replacement crock pot. see less

This is the best little cooker...We use them for community events in all our popcorn booths. It's just the right size and heats butter quickly. It takes up a very small amount of storage space and is also great when cooking for a small family. In addition we have used it for hot dips, cheese sause and other potluck items. I bought this crock pot about 3 years ago. The first one quit getting hot, so I called Hamilton Beach and they sent me a new one. That pot had electrical issues and although it worked wouldn't stay on the right setting for the size of bowl I had in it. So, I called Hamilton Beach again and they had me cut the cord and mail it to them along w/ a check for shipping. I now have the stainless and black set like in the picture and it is perfect, no problems. I can say they have improved this over time and have always been easy to work with when a problem occurs. see less

The little labels that comes with this are not necessary (they don't even stay in anyway), but that's really the only thing I didn't like about this crock pot. I've taken this filled with holiday cider to a party (yes...full) and it didn't spill! The main selling point for me was that this item is made of clay so it is lead-free and aluminum-free as opposed to other brands that leach "acceptable" levels of toxins into your food. My chicken dishes come out very tender but I haven't mastered the rice cooking yet. The instructions say to follow rice package instructions, however the cooker cooks (heats) effectively so I may need to adjust rice cooking time to compensate for the efficient heating process. You can really taste the layers of flavors and ingredients when using this cooker. Meaning the clay (unlike enamel) does not detract from the taste of your food so you get authentic flavors. This is a plus, but I feel the extra pressure of having to use the right ratio of ingredients because of the clarity in the taste of the food. I would highly recommend it. see less

This roaster is 5 appliances in one. I can steam, cook, slow cook, roast and bake. But the best thing about it is that it is TRULY non-stick. I have a big Hamilton Beach and I hate to use it not only because of its size, but also because I hate to soak and scrub something so big. This cook pan can be washed immediately and easily.
