The gate was easy to put together and mount in the door frame. Our doorway is exactly 60 inches, and that's the max that the gate adjusts, but it fits just fine. Also, it's very sturdy and we like the soft mesh middle instead of metal bars. We also bought a Dream Baby gate for twice the price, and it's fine, but now I wish we'd saved the money and just bought multiples of this one. It's a little annoying to step over it every time because my legs are short, but that's more of a personal problem than a complaint about the gate.
I have tried unmoving wooden gates as well as several different metal swinging latch gates over the years. This is the best gate I have ever had. My friend has had several of them in her home for many years and that is what prompted me to buy this one. It's easy to use, when it's open the doorway is not blocked by extra pieces, there's nothing to step over (trip over), and it looks quite attractive. I am ordering a second gate for the top of our basement stairs.
This baby gate came highly recommended by both of my sisters who purchased it 2-3 years ago. It was very easy to install. My husband installed it in less than 5 minutes. Feels secure and safe at the top of our stairs. Great price compared to some of the models they have in the store. I do wish they carried this gate in the store. They have a slightly shorter model online which we plan to order for our hallway because the extra tall gate is currently out of stock online.
I bought this gate to replace one of the cheaper wooden baby gates and am so glad I did. It is very easy to use and the way that it adjusts to the doors allows you to get a much tighter fit than the wooden gate allowed without damaging your door. You can put it in place in about five seconds instead of the minute that the wooden gate took - might not seem like a big deal, but when you're pregnant and leaning over is difficult, it makes a BIG difference. I love how it "remembers" the width of the door!
[...]I got this one over the other ones available because it was reasonably priced & it had a good review.
I HATE THIS GATE.
Our hallway by our stairway is 38 inches, which is inbetween the 27-41 - or whatever it is- that it says it needs to be in.
It is not stable what-so-ever. The bottom of it was fine, but the top rubber part is not even with the bottom. My 10 pound dog knocked it over.
I read the directions, so I know I did it correctly - it's not that hard -,
I will definitely be returning this tomorrow.
We purchased one of these back in 2001 for our children an absolutely loved it, but it finally broke. I found this one online at Target and ordered it. It arrived in a beat up box from UPS and I noticed immediately that the wood was of poor quality and very light. The original had maple and this one was of some very cheap light wood. Upon trying to use this one , I noticed it was broken where there was a screw. No surprise, given the lousy materials used. I bought some wood and repaired my old one.
