I use this sewing machine for everything from making clothing, making sturdy wallets and clutches, quilts, and almost anything in between. It's perfect! The extended table makes it so easy for larger projects and the fact that you can take off a section of the table to make sewing things like sleeves and pants a breeze! The decorative embellishments are also amazing. There have been a few reviews stating that you need to take it into a shop to be oiled... but the fact is that it shouldn't even need oiling. If it does then it comes with a little brush and oil just in case, even then the bobbin area comes apart very easily with no tools needed so self maintenance is a breeze, again when necessary which I don't foresee having to do any maintenance aside from checking it anytime my family and I move. I've had this machine for a few months and let me tell you that it's worth every penny.
overall I think this is a pretty good machine. once you get to sit down with it for a few hours it's quite simple and easy to use. but! this is my first owned machine in years, so learning everything all over again was a little confusing, but I managed everything easily.
!!READ THE MANUAL!!
that aside, I LOVE IT. I feel like the speed dial isn't that sensitive because it easily jerks up in speed despite me being as gentle/slow as possible. good stitches, easy removal and swapping of feet, etc. I think the monogram function is actually a pretty nice touch.
now if only it were usb compatible!
Never sewed a day in my life but received this machine a week before my first sewing class. Literally took it out of the box at the class and was taught how to use it from a certified sewing instructor. Was sewing fine until I used the reverse stitch then something happened to to bobbin holder and the whole thing shifted to where the needle wouldn't even go down. Don't know if something broke [...]
have been out of sewing arena for 25 yrs,Great product. versetile. easy to get started. threading was a breeze with the new auto threader. Wish there was a bit more in manual for beginning sewers.
Right out of the box, this machine was easy to use. Threading the machine and bobbin is so super easy. The drop in bobbin is a HUGE plus. The fact that is comes with a "case" -its just a cover you slide over the top, but it works! was also a nice feature. For someone that "knows what they're doing" yet at the same time still has no clue, I am VERY happy with this machine.
I've heard complaints about the light not being bright enough, but I don't find this an issue at all. I tend to keep the overhead lights on when I sew, so... yeah, not a big deal. I've hemmed jeans and made some purses, and hemmed a couple skirts and dress slacks, etc.. and its worked perfect.
Ad far as how loud it is, I think its actually pretty quiet. It does chug when you sew through multiple layers of demin, but what machine wouldn't? I love this machine and am VERY happy this is the one I went with.
Let me tell you....I am brand new to sewing, but after finding the right machine,THIS ONE, I have the confidence of a well-seasoned professional. [...] I then decided to do some research and found this Brother 6000i to have such excellent reviews that I had to give it a try. WOW-I LOVE IT! Target is my favorite place to shop, so I happily ordered it online and received it even before the estimated arrival time. It is so easy to use and is a great value. Mine came with the extended sewing table and hard cover which was a bonus, plus I got 5 percent off and free shipping with my Target card! Overall, this was an excellent purchase and I would recommend this machine to anyone, beginner or advanced sewer.
