My son just turned 5 and we got him this along with a starter Lego set to get him started and move on from the Duplo blocks. He worked with his Dad to put together and had a blast following the directions. It does have tiny parts so keeping his little brother away is a problem, but he's a fan of Lego's. I found Target online to have the best price and using my red card was even better. I feel Lego's in general are too pricey, but they encourage creativity and logic to put the kits together!
This set is beyond excellent, trust me
Good for avenger Fans
There are none!!!!!!!
As you can imagine I give the mini figures 100/10,
Go buy this set before it becomes discontinued.
One thing I would like to see in these sets, is a Lego Stan Lee.
This is a great set for the money. I love how Lego Marvel has been putting fantastic and rare minifigures in cheaper sets, as Nick Fury is obviously the highlight in this set and the reason I got this. Another example would be War Machine in the Extremis Seaport Battle.
SPIDER CYCLE: This is one of two vehicles in the set. Now the set is based off of cartoon Spider-Man shows, so its not exactly anything some of us might fully recognize, but once again, this set's main value is in the minifigures. The cycle is predominantly black and grey, as its main structure is with technic pieces, which allows the cycle's main feature: for the wheels to fold up(not unlike the Back to the Future DeLorean) so it can fly. The cycle is decorated with a few red bricks and a sticker on the front depicting a spider.
S.H.I.E.L.D. CAR: The car is colored green, though I would have preferred blue and gray, but like I said, this isn't for the Avengers, it's for Ultimate Spider-Man. The car also uses a fair amount of technic pieces to fold up into it's final shape. In the back is a slightly hidden flick-fire missile, though this time its the improved version that launches further (yay). The car seats two and is decorated on the hood and sides with S.H.I.E.L.D. stickers. Like the cycle, the car's most commercialized feature is the fold up wheels that give the impression of it's flight abilities in the show. Overall, a good car that goes great with Hawkeye's jeep.
MINIFIGURES: This, as said, is one of several Marvel sets that have put good and rare minifigures in less expensive sets.
-SPIDER-MAN: Spider-man is a new and improved version of the old sets from 2005 and 2006, and has a much more cartoony look. Currently this is the cheapest way to get him. The head has much enlarged eyes and webbing printed details, and his torso has webbing over blue and red patterns, with a black spider on the front and a larger, red spider on the back. His legs are completely blue, though I would have preferred some printing on them with a little more red, because he almost looks too blue. He also comes with a white rope piece to represent a web string. Overall, he's a good minifigure that is a great addition to your Marvel superhero team.
-VENOM: Venom is notoriously one of Spider-Man's greatest enemies in all Spider-Man media, having come close to revealing old Web Head's identity and killing him as well. He isn't my favorite of Spidey's adversaries, but he is exclusive. He has a black head printed with steely, large eyes and a fang filled mouth with his tongue lashing out. His torso is black with a steel colored mutant spider on each side. He has attached to his back some black vine pieces for some of the Symbiote, as well as two brick built Symbiote chunks seperate from him. A villain sure to last a while in any fight.
-NICK FURY: The grand spotlight point of the set. He is both movie-accurate and comic accurate, so no matter what you play you've got the right guy. He has black legs printed with ammo straps, and a bluish gray torso also with a belt and strap. His head is colored brown, and he has his black goatee and eyepatch to give him that final 'boss' look. The only downside is his weapon. Has anyone else noticed how LEGO keeps giving Marvel guys the old Alien Conquest guns? If you have extra stuff, it shouldn't be a problem, but it can get annoying when you stock up on those.
OVERALL: This is a great set with a good superhero and is worth the money just to get Nick Fury. I give this set a 5/5
