This excellent blaster may be a little bit more pricey than it's N-Strike Elite counterpart, but in my opinion it's well worth it! It's just as powerful as the Strongarm, but has the ability to be fired and primed using only one hand!
It's so fun I bought two!
We got this for our 6 yo and he loves it. The football is a great size for him - and he plays for hours, with and without the glasses. At dusk he has a hard time prying it away from his daddy and his dad's friends - since grown-ups love to play with the glasses - it gives the ball a really cool glow. We're going to buy another set so that we have 2 sets of glasses so that we can play teams.
this blaster is just spectacular. The alpha trooper 18 round mag is perfect sized compared to the 35 round raider mag which is too bulky. The AT is lightweight, completely durable and the best bang for your buck. Overall, the Alpha Trooper is a great nerf gun and i would definately recommend buying this blaster. A lethal weapon in nerf battles!
Rarely ever jams, shoots further than the recon or longstrike stock, slamfire is completely reliable unlike on the raider. Also it costs as much as a recon whereas the raider costs as much as 15 bucks more in many places. Weighs less than a raider too.
Some hate the 18rd drum mag but I prefer it to the Stampede's 18 round straight mag, of which I own two, and they sometimes have feed issues. Nerf's 35 rd raider drum also has feed issues and can sometimes be difficult to clear a jam. Not so on the 18rd drum.
Also the grip is a little different from the Recon's grip and, to my hands, slightly more comfortable.
If this gun ever jams on you, its because of a deformed dart, not because of the gun itself.
Get this gun. You will thank me.
